Now, I'm playing the Killzone 3 demo, and I can't see the symbol at all! I have the brightness and contrast set to 100 (max), all the lights off in the room, and I've tried fiddling around with the other settings, but nothing makes it bright enough to see the symbol.

I just can't believe a TV that I bought a year ago is already becoming borderline-unwatchable... especially since one of the reasons I bought this model was for great black levels. Anyone else having problems?

Xbox Right? I know you can adjust the brightness settings on the Xbox itself, generally speaking I don't adjust my tv to my Xbox, I adjust the Xbox to my settings.

Not at home so I can't tell you exactly how to go about changing the setting off the top of my head, but I'm thinking it's the Xbox, not the TV.

I believe he mentioned in the "black levels doubled overnight" thread that the problem is resolved. He had to change the RGB display setting on his PS3 from full to limited.

Hi, newbie here. Does the TC-P42G25 have any burn-in protection features? I'm getting my first plasma in two weeks and can't wait.

Thanks in advance

Dead Space 2 you shouldn't have a problem, but with Killzone 3 everyone is talking about the brightness settings are not enough and some people are adjusting their sets for it. Get a calibration disc and double check your brightness and contrast settings, but it's not your TV with Killzone 3..

I have TC-P54G10 which has recently started to show a green tint.
I have seen some mention of this and it seems to be tied into a THX issue.
Do I need to do a firmware/software update.
I notice the latest is FW 1.30.....I believe mine is 1.19 maybe?
Also I don't know where to find the build date of the set.
Thanks for the help.

Today while playing PS3 my TC-P50G15 suddenly gave very loud "short-circuit noices" and died. 30 minutes later I tried to turn it on again and it gave more noices, from the lower right side of the tv. It smells burned. Bought it november 2009 from Panasonic. Any luck at all contacting Panny or are they very strict on 12 months? Is this even possible to repair? If possible I would prefer avoid paying someone $100 to come out to tell me that it will be too expensive to repair.

The tv was connected to a monster surge protector.

What should I do?????

See this thread for info on that issue: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1186568

The first post should be updated with all the latest relevant details. The build date will be on a sticker on the rear center of the panel.

Thanks Meteor.
Mine was a June 2009 build so I guess it does not have the update.

What is the favorite set up disc for DIY calibration?

How do you answer incoming Skype calls while watching TV? A notification appears on the lower right, but I have no idea how to answer the call.
This is on the TC-P54G25

I would like to check how many hours my tv has been running, is there a way for me to do this?

I had a similar experience with my Panny 54G10 but luckily I have warranty and they came over last week and based on what I said, replacing a few boards today.
I suggest you contact panasonic and explain to them and hope for thebest.

I didn't realize the G series has Skype capability, I thought it was only the VT25 series.

Ever since I got my Panny TC-P42G10 in October of 2009, I've been using VieraCast to listen to Pandora, free of charge.

Today, I got my first ad through the service. It was a house ad promoting the Pandora One subscription service.

I don't mind that I got the ad... it was ten seconds long and occurred after 1 hour of uninterrupted music. But it does make me wonder: why was I able to enjoy Pandora ad-free on my TV for 17 months, and why am I getting ads now? I rarely listen to Pandora via their website, but when I do I always get ads and background timers, which I never got on my TV (until now.)

Did Pandora and Panasonic sign some sort of deal? Is it something that happens with all devices manufacturers who offer Pandora?

I recently had a A-Board replacement on my 54G10 and I don't know if this is a result of that or it has been happening since before but my brightness setting shows a very, very slight change in brightness when moving from 0-100 or 100-0.
I mean it is a very, very slight difference in brightness which I have t view very closely to notice. How is it on your sets? Can you easily tell that the brightness setting is changing?

I've had a 54" G series plasma since late 2009. I read the issues about black levels last year, but so far I still feel I am getting great blacks with the set.

As far as settings I am using the custom settings that CNET posted when they first reviewed the set:

http://forums.cnet.com/7726-19410_102-3145724.html

---Custom settings----

Picture mode: Custom
Contrast: +68
Brightness: +76
Color: +39
Tint: 0
Sharpness: 0
Color temp: Warm2
Color mgmt.: Off
x.vColor: Off
C.A.T.S.: Off
Video NR: Weak
Zoom adjustments: [grayed out]
PC adjustments: [grayed out]

-Advanced picture submenu
3D Y/C filter: Off [grayed out]
Color matrix: HD [grayed out]
Block NR: Off [grayed out]
Mosquito NR: Off
Black level: Light
3:2 pulldown: Off [grayed out]
24p direct in: 60Hz
HD Size: Size 2
H size: Size 1 [grayed out]

This thread is huge but I was hoping to find some confirmation or even updated settings for users of the set. Especially knowing of the black rendering issue that the 2009 Panasonic sets have.

I haven't used the THX setting for watching films in darker settings, but will try to in the future to compare. Most of the time there is light in the living room so I use the custom setting that Cnet recommended.

I haven't done a custom calibration or gone into service menus as of yet.

Side note - I'm really bummed that Panny was not forward thinking enough in terms of the design of the tv and the black rendering as well as allowing older users to get Netflix download from vieracast.

Overall, I am happy with the set. I'm watching The Man With The Golden Gun on it right now and it looks really great.

I have a Panasonic TX-P42GW10, which, afaik, is the european version of the G10.

I've owned it for ~15 months now and it has been in use pretty much every day. Recently I've started to notice loud fans. I have always been able to hear them (although at a very low level), but in the last couple of months the fans got quite audible.

Is this a common problem? Do I have to clean the TV or something?

Thanks!

Ok so I had this TV and "upgraded" to an NX810 (gained 3D, lost some picture quality though it is still impressive for an LED) and sent it to my parents back in January.

Last Monday I installed a Nevo C3 and REX433 RF transmitter for them, and minutes after testing it the TV shut off while changing channels on their Comcast STB giving the 7 blinking light error code (SD board, correct?) I unplugged both HDMI cables, and unplugged the TV from their Power Center and plugged it back in and it worked fine until Saturday when it happens again. Same thing, unplug HDMI and TV, plug in TV, power on and then plug in HDMI.

Then yesterday it happened three times, this time giving 6 blinking light error code (not familiar with this one, is it for a board or a continuity code or what?) This time I found out if I held down the power button for five to ten seconds it would power back on.

Obviously, the TV is barely out of warranty so I don't know if Panasonic will be of help. My parents are convinced it is the remote or the RF extender (though I don't see how this could happen), while I am leaning towards the Comcast box relating to the failure as all five times have occurred while changing channels on Comcast or using the dual tuner feature. As if the Comcast box somehow puts a load on the TV while changing channels or other more labor intensive activities. So far it has not happened using their Blu-Ray player.

Does anyone have experience with this and are able to point me in the right direction? I build computers and cars, and houses but that's irrelevant, so I feel I am fairly capable of fixing it if I need to but am hoping for a simple fix because time is a limited commodity for me.

Starting a few days ago, the image will dropout for a split-second, every few minutes. Most of the time it will also have a white flash, which is especially noticable during dark scenes or blackouts between segments. This happens regardless of source, BD, Sat, Roku, or GoogleTV.

It seems to be getting worse each day. And, also worse the longer the TV has been powered on. The dropout will last longer, and there will be some green lines and occasionally digital snow, almost looking like an HDMI handshake that is having difficulty.

Has anybody heard of this happening to these models after time? The TV is almost two years old, if that means anything.

Thanks.

Same thing on my 46G10. I remember reading in a thread of someone else with a similar problem and actual got a service call out of it and a board replacement. I'm so upset with this TV that I really don't want to invest anymore time in it so I have ignored the issue. Hopefully replacing it with a bigger TV soon.

Hi, I have the 50 inch G10, and I've had it for about 2 years now in July, and I have a greenish/blueish line going down the middle of the screen after a few hours of use on my baby.

Is this a sign of her going out?

Anyone try the TC-P54G10 with the Asus EEE Tablet HDMI connection?
Does not seem to work with mine.

just curious, but how much do you think I could realistically sell my p50g10 for that was purchased in June 2009? Thanks!

I don't think we're allowed to discuss specific pricing here on AVS.

Ever since I got my 42G10 on July 2009, it has serve as well. we have aquried 2 more additional sets ( LCD Samsung 32 and Sharp 32 for bedrooms) BUT non of these can compare to the video quality of the panny (IHMO)
I just used the settings provided by Mike on the earlier post of this thread

2 year update. Still going strong! Like last year's update, I have found myself tempted to go get a new TV but I keep coming back to the question, "why?" My TV is fantastic and the PQ is still excellent.

Love my 54G10!
I wish I felt that way about my G10. I made the mistake of looking into new TVs and am now pretty unhappy with my risen black levels. I've seen edge lit LCDs that look better. Can't justify a new TV though.
