Wow that's awesome you made it through. Like I said, I was probably no older than 7 when I played it a bunch and I don't think I understood the strategy real well. I remember my older cousin getting close to the end once and I was in awe!

Actually from memory you got an account code if you made a profit regardless of what stage you got to in the game.Although you only get to do the staypuft leg thing if you are in profit otherwise the game starts again.

If you don't get through stay pufts legs you still get the account code . I think you just got a 10k bonus if you actually complete the game all the way to the end.

( after staypuft you don't actually have to do anything : a little scene plays out with the ghostbusters at the top of the apartment building proton packing the gateway shut)

The ghostbait by the way is for stopping staypuft from forming ( he will even if you capture every single ghost and vacuum them up in ecto1) and trampling buildings (this seriously messes your profitability). The manual says you get 5 "dollars" ( I think they meant dollops) and on the C64 version you only got about 3 ( don't tap the B key repeatedly... hit it once when you see the ghosts flock to somewhere other than the centre of the map otherwise you use up all the bait)

Must say the remake is looking less fantastic gameplay wise the more I see of it...looks a bit like devil may cry. ( which I hated)

Absolutely, it looks like it will be fun to play.

Just saw IGN gave this game an 8.0.

I don't think I'd personally buy it, but could be a fun rental.

I just ordered it now that Amazon has a release date delivery option. When I checked yesterday they didn't. Glad to see a good review. This should be fun.

I thought that it was confirmed that he was not. I think there was a big article about it when they announced the game.
I remember them saying that apparently he made so much money off of Honey I Shrunk The Kids that he retired, or something like that...

I was just messing around but I'm pretty sure you are right. I remember reading that years ago he retired from HISTK.

Those of you in the NY area, VGNY has this game on sale for the past week. I would've picked it up myself but my guess is it can get repetitive really fast.

Kind of getting a headache playing it, I blame that YTE? or whatever thing is, the goggles lol.

I've seen I think four different reviews for the game and that the first one I've seen that was bad. They've all hinted at the same issues but not damned the game. I guess I'll just form my own opinion when I get home.

I have it and I love it.

Voice acting is the best in a game ever. Great humor, perfect match for the character's actions, etc. Graphics are stunning. Very impressive, except for the faces, they look a little like clay. The environments are rendered beautifully. Your proton gun is amazingly cool. Great lightning effect. You can also purchase numerous upgrades for your character based on how many captures, etc.

So far, a very fun game.

I played through up to the Stay-Puffed man last night. I'm loving what I've seen so far. I'm predisposed to love it though. It's definitely worth a rental, probably not a purchase if you're aren't a big fan of the movies. The attention to detail in the fire station is amazing.

That joystiq review is pretty spot on. I'm at the museum level, and the worst part of the game is actually playing it. Everything else is cool though.

I just got thru the library level; The levels are visually interesting so far (especially the latter part of the library level) and I find the game controls well once you get comfortable with all your proton pack and PKE meter's abilities.

I've encountered a few glitches: sometimes your fellow Ghostbusters will just stand around until you hit the sweet spot to trigger the game to proceed forward; and once it completely froze up on me. In spite of that, based on what I've seen so far, its a fun game with some good visuals, interesting ghosts and lots of funny gags and witty dialog courtesy of most of the original cast who've done the voicework. If you're a Ghostbusters fan, you'll like the game; if you don't care for the movies some of the game's charms may be lost on you.

Just started it. It's a great game. Back to it...

I'm having a tough time with the combat. They definitely made some big mistakes there. For one thing, the realistic clumsiness of the weapons and player movement doesn't match well with the agility and accuracy they gave the ghosts. I can barely locate a ghost before I'm creamed with a melee attack and thrown objects from other enemies I cant see. And they move so far that I can't track them. Some fly straight up in the air, and I can't even aim vertically. A typical sequence goes like this: I see a ghost, fire, do 5% damage; he moves out of my field of view; I try to follow him but bump into something; turn around to see what I'm stuck on, get crushed by a melee attack from a ghost I didn't see; panic and run, then hear cries for help; run to a teammate to revive, and get pelted by more attacks that I'm too slow to avoid; meanwhile more enemies spawn on-screen before I've had time to dispatch the old ones, and I end up in a giant clusterbleep of ectoplasm with a "restart" notification.

Anytime more than two enemies spawn simultaneously it's just a mess. And the squad AI is bad. And the PKE meter is a liability because I'm totally vulnerable while using it, and the ghosts pop out and attack too quickly before I can switch back to weapons and get ready. It's really sad because they could have made it great with just a few more weeks of behavioral tweaking. The weapons and ghosts look and sound great. really even better than anything ILM did for the original movies.
