Japan HMdh30000 time recording?

Okay, how does one get the screen up for setting the timer on the Japan JVC 30000?

When Todd and I are trying it now on the US deck, you dont have the choice of I link for time shifting. If this is true, this deck does not work. Now we are trying to see if the Japan deck has this feature missing also.

I will check to see if the i-link can be used as an input for the Japanese 30000 in the timer mode. I use the DST-51 to control the 30000 for timer recordings. In that case nothing special needs to be done on the 30000--it is all controlled from the 51.

The dst51 stopping and starting the 30000 is what I have heard from folks work most of the time. But what we want is the ability of the deck to do this itself like the hd1000 can do. This was two jvcs can be connected to the dtc100 and record.

I tried to setup the Japanese 30000 timer using the i-Link input as the source. I am afraid that was not possible, at least not with all the variations I tried. It may very well be that JVC intended the units to be controled by some future product.

Todd and Dave,

I went thru all my notes and messed with the recorder for a few hours, but it doesn't look like the DH30000 timer can be used for iLink recording. The manual (see pg 142 for instance) shows how to connect BS and CS converter boxes to the JVC via the iLink connector for HD recording. I think the timer recording functions are supposed to be in those boxes, and you can just pick a show in the guide and tell the box to record it to DVHS.

Perhaps the "VCR control" jack on the DTC100 could be used to control the recorder via its JLIP input.

this is amazing. But, not to fear, Richard will be putting the controls into the DTC100 to fix this problem. I hope to test asap.
Another reason to have the DTC100. What good are these decks if one can not time shift a firewire source?
