I'd be interested to know if your player can play Extraordinary Measures. I just received Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and it played on my player, but, I wonder if the manufacturing date made a difference. This copy was from Best Buy and the digital copy offer inside the box expired May 2010. So, I'm thinking it may have been made before Warner Bros changed the code. I've requested Sherlock Holmes from Netflix and I'll try it next week and reply back. What a mystery!

Hey Samsung! how 'bout writing a firmware update that will allow BDP3600s to connect to Hulu Plus subsctiption service. Your 2010 models can connect. Why not do it for your 2009 models also?

I guess the only thing to do is to wait for another firmware update that will fix the problem. Very frustrating.

2.07 downloaded from the Samsung site should install as if it were 2.09 or higher ie - it will downgrade the firmware.

I don't have Extraordinary Measures, so I would not be able to test it.

I don't think there is a setting for that. But I have found a work around for it. On most discs, except for Universal (They have their own built in screen saver), if you pause the movie, and then hit pause again to advance it one frame, the screen saver will not come on.

Thanks

According to the manual, Page 32. "This unit is compatible with Samsung's Wireless LAN Adapter only." Why would you not use the Samsung adapter that you have?

Anyone have success playing MP4s on their 3600? I have v2.09 and had an MP4 on USB stick, and it didn't even show up in the folder on the player menu.

I play them all the time. You probably have a corrupted copy. Can you play the .mp4 with WMP, VLC or any other media player?

It won't even show up in the folder. I can play it with WMP and KMPlayer on my computer. Do you play them from a USB stick or on a cd?

Surprisingly, I can play every .mp3 file I've put on the USB stick and about half of the videos I've copied onto it. Not sure why certain video formats don't work, and why sometimes an .avi file will work and another won't.

It's been about a week since I last posted and I've now run three more Blu-Ray discs (Transiberian, Shutter Island and The Uninvited) without issue and probably streamed 10-15 hours of Netflix movies in the last week, with just a rare hiccup in the connection. Still haven't a clue why Blu-Rays now work and my Netflix is streaming almost perfectly. Still running wirelessly, but did change the wireless DNS connection from auto to manual about two weeks ago. Probably re-installing 2.09 so many times did the trick, but I'm not going to question it. And no longer am waiting anxiously for 2.10. If the machine keeps working the way it is right now, I won't want to upgrade, downgrade or maybe even dust the machine.

I'm annoyed to report that Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits Blu-ray will not play on the 3600 with firmware 2.09 and I have tried several times. You get a loading bar and then...nothing but a blank screen. It doesn't even load to the piracy warning. Attention Samsung: Maybe it's time for a new firmware? Ya think?

If you go to their website, they have a new firmware listed as 2.07. You should be able to revert back to 2.07 with that file. And, I would be interested to know if you can play Time Bandits with v2.07.

Some people have been able to revert to 2.07 and some have not been able. There are several threads on the Samsung Forum on CNET (http://liten.be//PXPs0) about this issue. I, for one, have tried all of the suggestions without success. I have even contacted Samsung support, and I was told that the 2.09 firmware that I had installed on my player could not be reversed and that I would just have to wait for an update to be posted on their site.

As a follow-up, the only movie that I can't watch so far with version 2.09 has been Extraordinary Measures from Sony. I was able to watch HP and the Half Blood Prince and Sherlock Holmes.

Sandylp, your CNET link is dead! Can't access it. Also, I can't get the Samsung link that 4mula1 posted above to download the 2.07 file-just sits there but no download. Anyone else having problems w/this link? I have 2.09 on my 3600 and can't play the "Book of Eli" or the "Sherlock Holmes" bluray discs!

Bob.

Spent over an hour messing with this garbage last night when The Hangover refused to play, despite the fact that it used to. "Updating" to 2.07 via USB did not work for my 3600, but burning the ISO to a disc did get me back down to 2.07 and finally watching The Hangover again.

What a mess. Blu-ray sucks. DRM is a joke.

Hi all, I'm new here and have to comment on this as I'm am an owner of a BD-P1650. I recently bought "Clash of the Titans (2010)" on blu-ray and was going to have a movie-length break by watching it but the surprise was an unpleasant one when the disc did not work. The disc played perfectly on my PC so the issue was with the player no doubt. I tried everything from cleaning the player inside-out when finally I read from the internet that the root cause was in the software.

I already had given up all hope when I tried the last measure: I reset the player. And I was well surprised pleasantly now: the disc played without any hiccups (some skipping can be seen though on some places). Haven't had any problems since with different discs (Warner's titles included).

Try downloading onto your computer and use USB to upgrade. Plus, FYI I have 2.09 and have played Sherlock Holmes and Book of Eli without issues.

Thanks 4mula1-I'll mess w/it some more. I wish I knew what the difference was between your 3600 and mine-I don't have a clue why it won't load and play the movie-it will play all the advertisements for new movies, just not the movie. Oh well, I'll keep messing with it until 2.10 comes out...

I forget what your original post mentioned, but did you make sure the disc was clean and clear of smudges?
As a follow-up, the only movie my 3600 can't play is Extraordinary Measures. I tried the other movies mentioned, and they all play with version 2.09, so I'm not going to worry about it. I'll just have to catch EM on cable. Thanks to everyone who replied.

After months of dealing with the BD-3600 and it's problems, I'd had enough. I bought a LG BD-570 this past weekend. That is the best "upgrade" I've made to the 3600.

No more dvd freezing, non reading of disc, or signal loss while watching Netflix or listening to Pandora.

The LG unit was simple to setup and has worked flawlessly so far.

Over the past months I've read just about every post about the problems with the BD-3600, just trying to figure out how to get ours to fuction correctly.

Up until this point, I haven't had any good advice to offer until now. My advice; trash the damn thing and purchase a LG or Sony unit. Trust me, you and your family will be much happier.

Inability to play current disks with 2.09 firmware, which was upgraded by Samsung via Internet, is the fault of the upgrade. If you have a P-3600A you can not downgrade to ver 2.07 which is now on their site.

If you call service, they will insist it's your fault or tell you to wait for upgrade. If you can get to level 2 support by insisting you want a player that will play all current disks, they will give you a prepaid label to return the player for service. They know they are at fault with this.

Personally, I will never buy a Samsung product again as the attempt dismiss your first claim will cause you to waste your time attempting software patches and other remedies. It would be easier if the company's policy was to admit they made a mistake and fix it.

A lot of you know this too well. I've had some problems lately with 2.09 firmware, but I can usually get around it. Still, other people are speaking out about Samsung's crappy firmware on other sites: http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...sal_Films/5305

OK, hope you AVSforum gurus can come through for me...

I have tried numerous times to stream Netflix to no avail. At first it was locking up and an upgrade to v2.07 took care of that (was on v1.00 before if you can believe that). Now I just get the "Netflix is unavailable" message. Same for Blockbuster and YouTube. Pandora still locks up.

I have done the network test and it passes every time, but still can't access any of the network programs. The player is hardwired via modem and Ethernet cable, as I couldn't get a router to connect (but that's another story).

I'm usually pretty good at troubleshooting these things, but I'm at my wit's end.

Seems like it should be a simple solution, but it's just not coming to me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I assume that you do have a Netflix account?
