I'm having the same problem with the audio on my BDP-S580 onto an old VU42LF Vizio. Same thing happens when I play DVDs through my xbox 360, so I'm guessing that its the TV more than the components hooked up to it.

We've structured this area, so that each model has their own master thread, so we ask that ppl post in those threads.

I am just so pleased that I don't have to remove a disk to watch netflix now...I downloaded the latest firmware wrelessly without a hitch when prompted to...
I didn't notice this problem right away because I've been watching mostly BD, netflix, and Divx files. I put in The Matrix and is skips like it needs to buffer the movie. You can hear the mechanism act like it's searching for the content. The disc is in great condition so I don't know what's going on. I put a similar post on Cnet and got a response from Samsung, but they said to try loading the firmware again (2.15), the FF reset (did that), or send it in for service. I did try the can of air, and lens cleaning, but it's still skipping. Am I the only one having this issue? Should I just get a new player?

Have you tried any other DVD? Maybe it is just that DVD that has an issue?

Coming back to this thread after being gone for a while. My 3600 has been fairly solid the past few months with only minor problems of random loud clicks and searching sounds while loading, movies not playing, etc., but usually ejecting the disc and restarting fixed it.

Saw this post and wondering if anyone answered this question?

This SOUNDS like the "analog sunset" garbage where they won't let people do HD over component cables because of their irrational and misplaced fear of pirating.

I was under the impression that the analog sunset only applied to NEW devices? If Samsung killed HD component out via a firmware update, that's a blatant slap in the face of consumers and yet again ANOTHER example of the failure that is Blu-ray technology.

Dear God, I hate/love Blu-ray so much. It's the worst format of all time but it's all we have. I love the picture quality and sound quality, but the DRM, HDCP, Java, "security," etc. absolutely RUINS the experience for consumers. Discs that randomly don't play. Constant firmware updates. It's a disaster.

My coworker recently upgraded from a wood frame CRT that sits on the floor, to a 54" Panasonic G25, LG 590 BD Player, and a surround sound system. I helped him set it all up and got him set up with Netflix. His first Netflix Blu-ray disc was The King's Speech. Well, The King's Speech Blu-ray disc DOESN'T play on LG BD players apparently.

MASSIVE failure on the format and a horrible experience for a guy who just jumped into the HD era.

A buddy of mine asked me the other day which Blu-ray player he should get.

My answer? I actually told him NOT to get a Blu-ray player. It's not worth it.

I LOVE my Blu-ray movies and I have to have the best PQ, but its just not worth it for most people. I really want to drop an F bomb. Can I drop an F bomb? Because Blu-ray is a f*cking disaster.

EDIT: (06/24/2011 - My buddy ended up getting a Roku box and he loves it.)

Bought The Mechanic and The Expendables recently, and both played flawlessly. I am not on the latest FW, v2.13 is the last one I downloaded, and haven't had any issues with the latest BD releases.

Has anyone had this happen? Is it time for the scrap heap? If so what player did u change to? im hesitant to go samsung again. I need divx/avi ability and can't figure out which machines/companies usupport this.

Try doing a reset on the player. Hold the FF button for 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, unplug the unit and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Hopefully that will bring it back.

I tried that with the samsung rep on the phone. Unfortunately no luck. I left it unplugged over night too
post #3162 of 3244
I have not had that particular issue with my player yet. Cnet did a best 5 Bluray player review back in May. You might find some useful info there.

Has anyone figured out how to save a music playlist on the BDP-3600? Or know if it can pick up a PC type playlist (m3u)?

Good day all. I haven't visited the 3600 forum in a while, as my unit has been performing well of late. Just wondering if the latest firmware(June '11) has solved any playback issues. I haven't played any new releases on my 3600, and am wondering if I should update. Currently running fw v2.13.

I don't know if Canada has a different FW update, but the latest US FW update is from 2.15.11 and it is version 2.15. And, it worked nicely on my 3600.

The last firmware update you mentioned has caused several movies to have sound dropouts. Never experienced this before. I use 7.1 analog out to a Denon receiver which has worked great for years. Since this update, I never know if the next movie I play will have these annoying drops. Anyone experience the same deal? if so, a new update is needed.

Unit is out of warranty of course. Plays dvd discs fine, but won't play any blu-ray discs. Get an error "this disk cannot be played". I have unplugged it, reset it (using remote). Reset it using controls on player itself. Jumped up and down 4 times, and circled my sofa 3 times. I have put 3 needles in a bar of soap i carved to look like a blu-ray player, but nothing seems to work. Samsung support of course couldn't care less. And, I just uploaded the latest firmware, to no avail.
Any thoughts?

This has just happened to my unit..
Some disks bring up a message "this disk can not be played". Older disks play stilted jerky images..

Correction, I reset the unit and my Cable TV box and presto everything seems to work OK.

Try reseting everything by means of remove all power and see if it has any effect..

Hi, this player is the 1st one I have used, brother gave it to me for installing his replacement, he couldn't get WI-fi to work. It is working fine here ,it was his room.

Anyway I would appreciate a little knowledge sharing. when I play Red box rentals (only thing so far) I am forced to watch the previews. Most of the time (3 movies, lol) I have to stop for some issue and restart. I am then forced to watch the previews again, no fun the 2nd time. how do I skip them or I guess best question is how to start the movie the quickest?

Thanks

Mark
The skip ahead by chapter or high speed fast forward is the only way I've found to skip the previews.
they don't function, when I push the buttons on the remote the screen give a red circle with a line in it, not available. I was only able to get 1 button to do anything which was disc menu and it just restarts the previews.

Last night we started watching "Limitless", too tired to finish, paused it and have left it that way just so we wouldn't have to go through ever thing again. I would rather look at min past, remember the spot and turn it off. Next day get back to that spot as quick as possible

thanks

Mark
Warner and a few others have locked the previews on rentals. You can not use the chapter skip but you can use the FF button to get through them. As far as resume, depends on whether the disc is authored for it.

I had the same problem. A $3 can of air fixed it. Give it a shot.

Is anyone else having problems with player and X-Men First Class? My wife received X-Men First Class over the weekend on Blu Ray from Best Buy, when she tried loading it, on the player it said play, then 00:00:00 then play, and back and forth between the two. She decided to just leave it, and it eventually loaded, but when it did, it was as if the disc was skipping while playing during the beginning of the movie, despite no scratches. The firmware on it is current. I have not yet had her try to do a reset, but I was wondering if anyone else was encountering this issue?

Thanks in advance,
Zach

ETA: Just found this thread, makes me realize I'm not the only one I guess.

Just upgraded to v2.18 via USB. I was previously on V2.12. Just popped in the latest Torchwood BD to see if there were any playback issues. I am glad to report that all is well, and the update was successful. I wish they would develop a more foolproof method.
