I had my player serviced (they replaced the drive) and it was like this when I got it back (they installed the DEC firmware). I dont know if this had something to do with the drive being replaced or the DEC firmware or if there is something wrong.

Anyone else notice this???

Nope haven't noticed it on mine with the new firmware. A different color screen means its not outputting the correct type of color space for your display, but is it like that for the movie too or just the startup?

Only at startup of the BH200 (when it intializes). Colors are absolutely fine displaying movies.

So what exactly causes something like this. Because it wasnt doing this before I sent it to LG for repair.

At boot-up I believe the LG uses 480p. I know sometimes my set gets wonky with the colors when switching between HDMI devices of different resolution. I've seen it happen with the LG.

Pink screen, green thermo bar on the boot up screen? Yeah.
I have the same problem too, not 100% of the time thing either. I'm pretty sure it's an HDMI thing as I never see it on the players hooked up with component video.

The hdmi bh200 is running through a yamaha receiver to a panny plasma. I don't know if that matters.

I've had a bright green screen, but not always, and then the movie, and regular menu screens, look fine. Mine is also hooked through HDMI.

I never had this happen at all, before I sent it back to LG (they replaced the drive). Now I get it everytime.

Well i changed the fourth hex to 80 when trying to configure for pal and got the magenta bar. Changed back to zero and got regular LG start up with time bar. Strange if i use the magenta then at menu screen it is shaky and has trouble with 1080i.

Hmm thats interesting. I know before (sending the player back) it didnt do this just from inputting the PAL code. Ill change it to non PAL later and see if it takes the magenta box away. Just for reference.

I dont have any of the problem you are referring to (shaky/1080i).

just on the menu screen but not during a movie. i wonder if i have the right ir latest firmware. I watched Last of the Mohicans region 2 Pal tonight and it wa not 1080i just 480p. I have the fourth hex at 80 and region set to zero. I had this player before and thought i was able to watch this movie at 1080i. I am using a Dwin HD700 crt projector and dvdo vp30.

Player will not upconvert through component, only through HDMI.

Yes, in fact, I know of no other player that upconverts (legally) through component. That was part of the HDMI requirement, I believe. If you upconvert, it has to go through HDMI. There is an exception for VGA connections, since those are typically used for computer monitors. (The xbox 360 allows upconversion of SDVD through this route, for instance.)

Toshiba HD A1 did and my Panasonic DMP-BD35.

The only exception to being able to upconvert over component would be that component can't handle 1080P. Now, before people get all up-in-arms over that comment, there are SOME rare component cables that are spec'd to handle 1080P, however not a lot of devices support it.

So, upconverting over component is totally do-able and players do it too.

Well this player does just about everything. I guess not neing able to upconvert 1080i over component is a good trade off considering what it can do.
