Just checking back in this thread to see how xxV5100 owners are doing with obtaining the ER4.12_E3R1 INT AUDIO firmware update directly from Sony. After 2+ weeks, my 46V5100 has been working perfectly!!

I TOTALLY agree with mrdjman, be specific
. During my first call to Sony support, the Sony rep was firm that there was no audio firmware update available post-Aug 2010, and he knew nothing about an audio fix update. I just remember having to rationalize that the audio would work for awhile, but then it would begin cutting in and out/studdering, and finally the audio drop all together. Then after switching the channel, the audio would be restored... after a while of insisting that recently an audio firmware fix became available, and referencing the "E3" firmware update, eventually, the rep finally said that he knew was I was talking about.... perhaps he was searching the "Sony internal break/fix" knowledge base while I was talking with him, I don't know for sure. The rep sent the ER4.12_E3R1 INT AUDIO firmware update on a USB key to me via regular mail.
I did hit a snag along the way, as previously reported in this thread, but after following the power disconnect steps as outlined by mrdjman + his contact a Sony, the audio dropout issue on my 46V5100 has been resolved. After 2+ weeks, my KDL-46V5100 hdtv has been working perfectly! (as it should have right from the start).
