Pioneer KRP Shipments and Damage Tracking Thread - Page 2

You can kick a large box like that in, damage the content, and the box will look like new. My guess is this is being done on purpose by people that heard they were losing there job. The factory has probably informed them that if this continues they risk losing unemployment benefits when the job ends. You'd rather get laid off than get fired for cause. I doubt you will see this many problems with the new shipments coming later this week.

Just my guess from what I'm hearing and experience in warehousing and distribution.

Man, I am sorry to see that. This is getting rediculous. Was this your first delivery or your second go round? Good luck on the replacement and keep us posted.

PS - Updated totals in original post.

Have just been reading your replies about damaged Pioneer Plasma's

Man' very!...Very!... worrying to read about what you guys have gone through.....really feel for what's happened....

I myself have KURO 609 reserved for me with a trusted retailer and the manager in the shop, is making sure that nobody touches my unit with serial number on my order screen on the shops P.C.

I should be receiving my screen within the 2nd week of May and have booked a weeks holiday especially for this occasion, with the screen being delivered by the same retailer....of which is reassuring.

Because I have been a loyal customer for the last 12 aprox years, the shop manager is personally making sure that this unit isn't being exchanged for another 1 from a newer batch...

I suppose it's not to bad hear in the UK as delivery distances are very short and the added fact that they are assembled in the UK means they very localised.

I hope you are all looked after and treated as valued customers.

Genuine Honest and Sincere regards to all

Take good care guys

My 5020 came from buydig about a month ago and is flawless.

My 6020 came today from buy.com with a cracked screen. The delivery man said he'd never seen that happen before (lol). Back it goes.

Thanks for the kind words . It is a painstaking process of waiting and crossing fingers, but hopefully in the end it will work out. I wish you the best of luck with your transaction as well. Sounds like your going to have a good old time once you get it

Plasma came from Louisville, KY.

that can be the bad part of the distribution system.

Your 600M was assembled in California then shipped to a Pioneer Distributor warehouse in Kentucky and then shipped to you in ...California.

Has anyone received a cracked screen on a unit manufactured in January?

I haven't seen anyone else mention 600Ms with a January build date, like mine (distributed by Almo Corporation).

It's not the distributor that is cracking the screens its the freight carrier.

I don't think there's any evidence to suggest that the screens were cracked by freight from the distributor. Members have reported cracked screens on KRPs delivered by at least three different freight companies.

To me, it sounds like an entire shipment of November '08 KRMs was mishandled in freight to distributors.

but Chris that's not 100% for sure. with a closed box every link in the delivery chain is suspect after they are assembled/packaged at Pioneer in CA.

you start right there with loading docks and forklifts into trucks onto roads to distributors loading docks, forklifts, back onto trucks (which could be to the trucks ship terminals and transferred to other trucks) so more docks forklifts etc etc onto and then finally opened at the customer's residence, plus you can throw in air freight for some shipments.

There's just no way to know.

Well sometimes way to know, I know some stupid careless forklift operator at some point in the delivery chain got to my first 60" Elite that was shipped to me. (it was air freighted as well). But 4 forklift tongue sized punctures in the box pretty much doomed that panel. But the where/when of it happening.......????

I know that this time, my seller will be having mine ( and I am assuming everyone elses too) inspected before leaving the warehouse, which will help confirm a few things this go round. We shall see!

My conspiracy theory is Pioneer themselves are secretly manufacturing the 600M using all the old cracked 141/151 screens they have gathered since the 9G introduction. Pack them in very nice boxes. Then price the 600M incredibly to move them out. Once customers discover the cracked screen, Pioneer will blame various shippers for damaging in transit to collect insurance money. We need to send Jack Bauer in to investigate and bust them.

This of course is a joke just hope to cheer all the cracked screen 600M owners and try to remind them how good 24 in HD will look on their 600M. Keep the faith.

After seeing all the horror stories of the monitors delivered cracked, I thought I would post something positive. Both my KRP-500M and KRP-600M arrived yesterday without incident. The 600 was made in November, and the 500 was made in October.

I agree. These things are leaving the Pio manufacturing cracked.

Anyone tried powering their cracked plasma?

I fired mine up last night. No pic of course and a wicked power supply buzz.

My 600M is in town, but scheduled to be delivered tomorrow via Fed Ex Freight. I called and asked to see if they can work it in yet this afternoon. I will report what I hear. Shipped from Lousiville, KY.

Thanks for the info. I added you to the list. I made one small change in the original post to only include 600Ms due to their higher chance of damage IMO. Please post some pics over in the owners thread when you get a chance and congrats on getting a good one (or 2 in your case)

Agreed with posting pictures in the Owner's Thread. After hearing about so many horror stories, it would be nice to see a nice and working PDP.

I'm not helping the odds - 3 large cracks.

Shipped from Louisville, had pallet, small puncture in box, didn't think to check manufacturer date - refused delivery.
model: KRP-600M

shipped from: Middletown, NY

objective data: box strapped in truck on pallet, no damage to box, manf. 11/08

results: large cracks upper left and bottom right of screen. refused delivery.

What I dont get, is that these are basically 141s anyways, and I dont see the 141s reporting this amount of problems. Although, they dont sell as much as the 151s either. So weird??
Either 141/151 or 111/101 its not even close to these numbers
post #59 of 1857
Roman you had a great run when the 9G came out

this is way outta whack
