Equalizer; Increase "punch"-bass

Hello.

I have 4.0, two Dali Concept 6 front speakers, and a Denon DVR-1909. I do not have a subwoofer.

I watched Watchmen on the cinema yesterday (great movie by the way), and I was thinking about the fighting-scenes, and how all the punches really had a bassfeel. It was the same when watching Dark Knight and other movies. Anyhow..

I'm wondering, do you know what frequency the punch-sounds are at? I know it's really hard to explain this. but it's a lower frequency, but not a hum.
If someone understand what I mean, do you know approximately at what frequency this is at? I'm going to try to tweak my equalizer a bit more (on the receiver), to get more of this bass, and less hum.

Not a too crystal clear post, but it was worth a try.
Thanks.

Well, I have a pair of old surroundspeakers I dont' even know the name of. And since they don't produce any bass I didn't mention them.

Interesting that you would mention "punch" bass. Back when I first got into this hobby I bought a Kenwood HTIB(GASP!!) that did DD5.1 and DTS. Anyway (as you would expect from a HTIB) the speakers were pretty crappy and when I upgraded the center speaker in that setup to a Paradigm CC-370, I immediately noticed more "punch" bass from fistfights. Assuming your setup is no center and your center channel info gets sent to the left/right this probably wont help you much.

You might want to invest in a center speaker and a sub, so that every channel has it own speaker so to speak.

Thanks for your reply, wasn't really expecting anyone to have any kind of answer.

Well I guess a center speaker could help, and a sub would defiantly help, but at the moment I don't want to use too much money on this setup. Because for one, it's not really very good speakers, and not something I'm going to rely on for a future awesomesauce home theater. And well, a sub would be nice, but quite expensive and probably going to make the people next door hate me.

Guess I should blame myself for this, but still, there might be an easy way to fix this. Oh well.

I don't think you will get what you want without a sub. Bass you can feel is usually in the lower frequencies that subs handle. Your main speakers go to 41hz which also may be a little kind (I don't know if Dali is accurate with their specs). Bass you feel is usually below that. When buying a sub make sure it can go below 20hz to atleast cover what humans can hear. The lower the better.
