Samsung DLP lamp replacement - with or without housing?

I have a Samsung DLP HLM507W - nearly 6 years old and in need of a new lamp. Last time I purchased one from Samsung direct for $250. I started researching and found a few different choices this time.

1) Lamp with housing from samsungparts.com for $165 w/shipping

2) Another one on ebay for $80

3) The lamp sold separately on ebay ranging from $80

4) And one for $120

I would like to hear from the current HLM/N owners on their last replacement. Any experience with the ebay sellers? Can I trust the $80 lamp to be the same as the $120 one?

Thanks,
Nivas

I am starting to wonder if there are any HLM/HLN series owners left on avsforum. Have you all replaced your DLPs with plasmas/LCDs?

In just two hours you expected to hear from owners of 5+ year old TVs? Anyway, Fwiw, I have an old HLM507. Replaced original bulb @ 6,000 hours with one I got from Samsung Parts for $200. That bulb now has over 6,000 hours on it and will probably die soon. I'm not sure yet if I'll replace the bulb or pitch the TV, but if I do I will probably go OEM with one from Samsung Parts again.

Thanks.

I think I should provided a little more info about why I said that. As you can probably see, I've been a member since 2003. I was an active participant here when I purchased my DLP. Of course, we had many members discussing the latest HLM/N/R series. You could post any question about Samsung DLP issues and get an informed response. I checked back in last week to search about a new issue (my TV does not respond to remote) and I noticed that many of the Samsung DLP threads had either no responses or very few. The OPs issue in most cases seemed to be unresolved. This led me to assume that owners probably have replaced their DLP with newer and better sets - Plasma, LCDs, whatever (I know, just a conjecture).

Anyways, back to my original question, I found the following -

1) Philips bulb w/enclosure
2) Possibly a Toshiba lamp w/enclosure(not manufactured anymore)
3) Osram bulb
4) Philips bulb

In fact, the last one purchased from Samsung direct was a Toshiba lamp.

I am leaning towards (2) right now to save a few $$$$.

p.s. Also, don't order from discount-merchant. Very poor customer service and they don't have a clue about their own website promotions. After an hour and 2 different agents, they couldn't fix my order nor expedite delivery as they promised.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I tried searching and couldn't find some info...
I originally had a Toshiba bulb and put in a replacement a few years ago, but now they aren't available anymore. Does anyone remember there being issues when you changed bulb brand? Perhaps the color calibration needs to be redone in the service menu?
