1080p/24 for upconverted SD DVD - benefits & options?

Thread Starter
I'm getting a BenQ W5000 projector which displays 24fps in 48hz. I will be projecting on a 106" screen, so obviously upconversion quality is important.

1. Would I benefit by using a player that upconverts SD DVD to 1080p/24?

2. Do either the Pioneer 51fd or Samsung 2500/2550 do this? I'm kind of on the fence between these 2 players right now, as they both supposedly upconvert very well for < $300.

Thanks!

Hi.
1. yes because you can run them @ their original framerate....no judder.
2. I use the LX91 (UK ver of the 09) other players are the BD35/55 or the new Oppo.

For $300 why don't you go for a nice blu-ray and get the best of both worlds? We have an HD-DVD and blu-ray both and a lot of SD DVD's are almost HD quality. Some of course are real stinkers and were grainy or whatever to begin with, so neither player could do anything with them, but we are quite happy overall.
