Floor standing speakers without 'foots'

Hello All,

I have a pair of floor standing speakers. Right now they stand right on a carpet. I wonder whether it is possible to buy some kind of 'foots' (downward pointing triangles) - the same as on higher quality floor standing speakers? Has anybody modified speakers this way? I guess the speakers may sound better when they don't sit right on carpet...

Thank you,

hf

you would need a set of these for each speaker. I don't know if you will hear a difference, I doubt it....but they won't hurt either.

If you google, "speaker spikes", you will find a few parts that look like they can be screwed into the bottom of any speaker. getting them off the carpet GOOD idea.

Side note, wouldn't it be speaker "feet" not "foots"? lol

Thank you m_vanmeter, Thirsty and jwc13ac for your suggestions. I had no idea how are those 'things' called in English so I didn't know what to google

You may also want to simply place something solid below each speaker. A simple piece of board will work. But 12" x 12" (or whatever size) flooring tiles work well. Marble or granite ones can be had surprisingly inexpensively. And come in several colors (especially black). If you go this sort of route, you may want to use some sort of absorptive rubber bumpers (or similar) on the corners of the speaker's bottom-side.

also look into "outrigger" style speaker stands/feet:
