Street Fighter US vs Street Fighter Aus

There is only one version of JCVD's turn as Guile that I'm aware of. The Sony international and Universal domestic releases are probably identical in terms of the film at least.

I have the Australian version and don't recall the outtakes reel which is present on the U.S. release.

Also the U.S. release features DTS HD MA vs the Dolby TrueHD on the Aus release.

How is the US BD? I have an Amazon giftcard and may buy...

AVC vs VC-1

From those screenshots, the US VC-1 is clearly superior.

Not necessarily. The US disc is sharper for sure, but it suffers from fairly obvious EE and to my eyes it looks harsher so on that count I prefer the Aus version. Still I will admit it is softer and not a huge upgrade from the DVD.

Crap colours + oversharpened + worse framing = clearly superior?

There may be a very slight increase in detail on the US transfer, but most of it is due to the sharpening. I'd take the AUS one any day.

Yes, it looks like the people who worked on the Universal version were trying to get more detail out of a source low in detail. However, the results could likely be achieved with the basic sharpening found on virtually all consumer display systems.

In my opinion, the people at Sony have once again demonstrated that they know what they're doing while some other studios do not.

What I meant to say was that the VC-1 has more natural colour, is more detailed and brighter than the AVC. You may keep the AUS one any day.

I also believe the VC-1 transfer looks far superior IMO. The AVC one has the reds blown out, looks horrendously artificial.

They both look crap, but I'd choose the US one because of the more natural colour.

I purchased the VC-1 versian that was printed on a Friday and it has far more accurate color temp and saturation than the AVC copy that was printed on a Monday. I would stay away from those monday prints.

Because people want them. I'm glad they do release movies like these, and just not the so-called "superior" movies. Granted, Street Fighter is not exactly great. But personally I'm more excited about getting Steven Seagal movies on Blu-ray than eg Star Wars. We all got different taste, and that's why studios need to release all kinds of movies if they want the format to succeed.

A little off-topic, I know. But every day I read comments about how the studios spend money on "crap" when all these "great" titles are still unreleased.

Granted we all have different tastes.. But let's say we had two videos.. one with Jessica Alba in the buff.. and another of granny scat porn.. Imagine how their IMDB ratings would look, and imagine which is going to sell more.

We may have different tastes, but some tastes are a lot more common (like a taste for Jessica Alba)

So from a business perspective, wouldn't you expect the studios to be releasing the more common tastes first? I'm sure something like "Titanic" would sell like hotcakes.

Hehe.. I'm a big B-Grade fan too, I bought The Marine on BD and would probably buy titles like Frankenfish, Earthstorm (who knew a Baldwin could get so fat!?!) and so forth..

So sure, I'm biased... but I still wish crap like "The Love Guru" wasn't on the new release shelf when I'm waiting for LOTR.
