^^^Thanks for the info on 'special displays'. Called OPPO yesterday to see how I could get a filter and got the e-mail address since I hadn't spotted it here: email@example.com
. Purchased the disc recently by calling AVS but not sure if it was shipped before July 31--or whether that's a firm criteria.
Tried using my SD Avia blue filter for both color-calibration formats but had to give up--required settings seemed too far off. So maybe it was my plasma's DCI color parameters (a Panasonic TH-65VX100U). AIUI, if I wanted to shift its DCI color gamut to Rec 709, it's possible using an external video processor and color management features. But not really planning to do that since, as outlined
earlier this year, images look good.
Would prefer strict 709 but AIUI the processor needed to 'tone down' the greens and reds would run about 3/4 the $10K MSRP of the plasma! Also haven't hired an ISFer or bought a good DIY meter to make the grayscale more accurate either. Recall a British review of a VX100 where the reviewer tinkered with tint/color and grayscale to help partially 'fix' DCI color, so perhaps, with your upcoming site comments and the Oppo filter supposedly on the way, some tinkering will help my VX100 approach 709 colors better. -- John
