I was running my pc with a millisecond clock in clone mode. MSI 9400GT video card with HDMI,VGA,DVI. I was using a Canon A570Is camera. I found I had to use a 125 second exposure (ASA800) to get the picture. With a higher shutter speed (500) the CRT monitor displayed a moving black bar which usually covered the clock.

AMP set to Off,Dynamic Contrast set to Off
Input lag times:

VGA 60 to 70 ms
HDMI1 DVI 100ms
HDMI1 DVI game mode 60ms



Am I doing something wrong with my measuring methods? The 60ms time in VGA seems rather bad. Does the 52 inch size give greater lag times than a 46 inch size display? I could see the lag just by grabbing a window and moving it. It appears the B630 is no A630 when it comes to lag times.

Other findings on usign this tv as a monitor:

Darker colored text works ok, however lighter colored text just does not look very sharp on this TV, no matter what setting. I still have not ventured into changing service menu values to see if this can be improved more than I have with the menu settings. Lowering saturation is the only way to somewhat improve fuzzy red text, but you can't entirly fix the problem. With small text I noticed a pale orange, muddy pink, oversaturated green, blue, and light blue text colors. Basically, almost every small light colored font will not look good with the TV, and I think this is probably a problem with the size of the pixels more than anything else. It is a TV not meant to work as monitor.

For games it is very very good. Motion Focus on this set is backlight scanning at a normal 60hz refresh rate. It only helps with slight slow movements across the screen, as fast movements will still produce more visible regular LCD blurring. Since it adds a slight flicker to the image, it can only be used while objects are moving on the screen (gaming, video), otherwise this flicker is bothersome when using an operating system.

I might give it a couple weeks before deciding if I will keep it, as for now I don't think it can really replace a regular monitor as a pc display. The muddy or blurry small colored text thing does bother me, and I don't think any 32 inch TV is going to be good in displaying small colored text unless you sit at least 4 feet away from it to combat the blurry effect (but not the muddy color effect).

I know this Set is pretty much the only good low input lag 32 inch tv at the moment. I feel like the size is nice, but I could do ok with something a little smaller, maybe around 26 inches. An actual pc monitor but still 1080p native. We'll see. For the moment I'll keep trying it out, because it is awesome for games, just not the best monitor for pc work.

I just bought a Phillips 42PFL3704D from target. When testing with Rock Band 2's auto lag test, it is showing 50-60 ms lag (there is no game mode on this set). Not the worst, but not the best either.

I'd hate to get the Panny, test it, and find out it's lag is no better, or even worse, and have to return it though. Returning such large LCD's is a chore.

I wish everybody would use the Rock Band 2 test, it seems by far the best to me, it gives a raw ms number to work with. None of this trying to figure out fuzzy timer pictures that often have great discrepancies crap, and none of this converting to frames stuff that makes things even less precise. The RB2 test will give different values on different runs, but only by a few ms, and it's easy to run multiple tests and get a average or range.

BTW, I'm specifically referring to the RB2 automatic test using the sensor on the guitar, not the manual tests in RB2/GH which are terribly inaccurate as it's too easy to "time" them subconsciously.

Heck I bought the game and guitar just to test, and am planning on returning the guitar and selling the disc back used to Gamestop to recoup most of my costs when my tests are done.
