i hate to sound like a broken record in this thread as of late but until someone can come forward with evidence otherwise its pretty simple

best LCD's are Sharps and Panasonics with and edge to sharp's

best plasma's are Panasonic's

anything else is going to be either just ok or bad to very bad with most landing in the bad category.

From what I see. That's just a rumor. I tested my Sammy set. And the results were great. I'll test em again today for fun. I game on my Sammy plasma. Trust me. If I game on it. The input lag is low lol.

30-50ms ?

not a good result, right ?

you seem to have V-Sync forced on by your video card in directX, you need to disable V-Sync because SMTT is not accurate without V-Sync disabled (the numbers should be different from top to bottom)

also you could stand to increase your shutter speed to 1/60 looks like you took those photo's at 1/30 or 1/24 because i can see it on the CRT monitor

I don't blame you. Once I get a camera I'll post em up. I'm not the only source though. There was a review done to this site(UK) that stated the input lag to be only 20ms. I'll see if I can find it again as well.

I'm not looking to spend much and I should've jumped on the 32" X1 model when it was on sale earlier in the year.

yeah you missed out on the X1, if you don't care about 1080p then by all means get the X2 otherwise both TV's should perform pretty close to each other probably with a slight edge in 720p native games (esp PS3 games) going to the X2 due to no scaling lag.

That's what I did before i got my plasma. I play my games at best in a monitor. Fast gaming and clear screen. All until I got my plasma

they are perfectly acceptable as long as your ok with their size and you get one that is a TN panel or IPS (most monitor are TN) stay away from xVA panels (cheap graphic's monitors that claim great viewing angles) they use the same laggy panels used in many TV's

Monitors are great, just read up on ones with low input lag.

It will not look as good as a decent HDTV, but you can see things a bit easier. Like others I was using a 22" Acer because my LCD had some lag(LC7D series). I now have a plasma so it's a none issue.

So I guess the conclusion is Sharps are the fastest, followed by Panasonic, and everything else just sucks.

I'm still sorting through the SMTT test pics now, but the preliminary results are surprising. It appears to have about 12ms lag for 720p, which makes sense given that it has to scale it to its native 1080i. However, when I tested 1080i, it measured at about *30ms*. I have no explanation for such high lag at its native resolution, unless there was something wrong with my test setup.

More to come on this one. The good news is that at least the 720p lag is minimal (especially without additional pixel response lag), and the picture quality is phenomenal.

Did these results come out yet? There is a xbr955 local that I'm really thinking about snagging. 12ms is nothing but I'm concerned about the 30ms results as I would like to play in 1080i.

Speaking of X1...

Mine came in a few days ago and it had both dead and stuck pixels, like right near the middle of the screen, so I had to return it and get my cash back. I am pretty anal when it comes to stuck pixels. Would an X2 be my best choice, or is the L32C22 better, or would something else entirely be better? How much lag do these sets have anyways, I've searched all over, but I can't find any numbers. 720P and 480P numbers would both be greatly appreciated. All I want is a nice 32-37 inch 720p set. It's all many people want.

You could try buying a TV from somewhere with a good return policy. I think best buy has a policy that you can return a TV even if the box has been opened within 14 days, as long as its not damaged. Don't quote me on this though as I'm not 100% sure. If you do this, though, you can just return it if you find the lag to be too high. If you want to do this just make sure the place doesn't charge you a restocking fee for open boxes. As for which TV's to try, I'm not an expert but going off what others say, stick with Panasonic and Sharp.

You have 30 days. And you do not need to return the set with the box. You just need what came with it.

IR is very minimal. I game at least 4 hours at a time and am yet to have a problem. I've gotten IR once? And that was me trying to make it have it. I did not break in the set. I plugged this bad boy in and started playing. I honestly have no issues with my set. I'm a very VERY avid gamer. Was worried about getting this set. But after owning it. I can't look back. It works perfectly.

that's correct for 2010 IPS-Alpha's, they are worse than previous years IPS-Alpha but are still better than most LCD TV's

it probably is because LG only makes IPS panels for their larger TV's and 42" is one of the sizes.

you can tell pretty easily if it is in a store by putting up a black screen and tapping on it, if you see little change in the black level then its IPS if you see a bright light halo flash around where you tap (like 3-5" diameter halo) its VA based. try it on various TV's in a store and you will see what i mean

it depends on the TV. some do some don't and some like panasonic's will not accept HDTV resolutions over VGA inputs
post #1587 of 4043
do recent Samsungs accept hd res through vga?

yes they do and i know that at least 2008 models had their lowest input lag with VGA input or HDMI/DVI input relabeled to PC, the B series nerfed how good the hidden PC mode worked but its still worth a shot on the C series i'm sure

So now the question is what should I do with my Samsung HD CRT.

Anyone in the Chicagoland area interested in a 0 lag HDTV (I believe the component inputs feed the analog circuitry directly because if I feed it a 720p input the screen goes crazy rather than trying to scale it)?
