Don't worry about that. I played some Tekken at my friend's house the other day. He has a 37" Panny with an IPS Alpha panel that's at least three years old and it was a perfectly lag-free experience.

I'll also have my 32" C3 sometime next week to give my impressions here.

From everything I've read , you cant go wrong with the C3, or the u3. The u3 is real hard to find now, however. I did see a tc-l37s1 on ebay, for $587, supposed to be a low input lag tv. As for 2012 models, I read on shoryuken someone picked up the x5, and was happy with the way it felt. Good luck, thanks to amazon prime, and finding a like new c3 unit, it will be at my house tomm, and i will give my thoughts.

thats the set i use as my main PC monitor and no its not lag free, no LCD is but its got at most 16ms of lag

Hey guy,
has anyone had the chance to test out the Sony EX650 series yet? Im hoping it would be quite low due to the reduced HZ over last years model

I have a 32" CRT panny that is many years old, but I'm upgrading (or downgrading lol) to an hdtv and I just don't know. SInce I can't see the c3 in action i don't know what to think and I don't know if I can buy a product that I haven't seen in action.

What I have learned from these forums, is that for most of us that post here, we're very passionate, and probably over analyze our electronics. So, if others in this forum, are telling you it has a good picture, and low input lag, and you look at amazon and see 200 reviews near a five star rating, odds are you will be happy. Join amazon prime, you have a 30 day trial, and can return you purchases for free if your not happy

this is a very true statement.

Hey frito, how do you feel about the new 2012 panny sets? They say they use IPS LED panels, w/e that means.

marketing is what IPS LED panel means pretty much all LCD's seem to be moving to LED backlights even though good CCFL is actually better in color reproduction but thats neither here nor there.

I'm pretty sure i've made my stance clear, if my 37S1 died tomorrow I would head to local stores in search of a 37" Panasonic that has the least amount of features on it and at the very least does not have a motion enhancer or 120hz. I would fully expect the current 37" 60hz model to perform nearly identical to my set and if it was worse i would be surprised and would possibly return it to try something else if the lag was bad enough but i doubt it would be.

Allright, thanks to my Amazon prime, and paying $3 for overnight, I have my new Panasonic c3 tv. I got this from amazon warehouse, with designation, like new, for $250. Pulling it out of packing, looked brand new, no dead pixels, had to do the initial setup. Hooked my 360 up to hdmi #2, put it in game mode, and gave it a whirl in Cod3. To me, there is absolutley no detectable lag. I also have a 50" Panasonic GT25 plasma, which is supposed to have really low input lag, and the 2 feel the exact same. I went 18 and 6 first game, and my normal death to kill is only like 1.16. As for the picture quality, it looks just about identical to the u3 that I had, (but had to ship back due to some dead pixels). From a foot away I could tell the difference between the u3 being 1080p, and the c3 being 720, however, I dont game from a foot away, and at 5 ft away, I couldnt tell the difference between the 2 panels. Hope this helps anyone looking for a 32 inch gaming tv. I'm about ocd about my electronics, as you could imagine, but this tv seems like a great gaming tv

Any chance any of you guys would have connections to help me get a hold of a reasonably priced u3?

I'm planning on getting an e3 is there anything wrong with that?

briefly looking at their site models with IPS Alpha panels in them are U3,C3, X30, X34 only 32 or 37" sizes.

My suggestion is to stick with this list unless you want to be a guinea pig and test out the newer non-IPS Alpha models yourself.

Thanks for the C3 impressions bucknuts07! I only have a few more days to wait for mine.

The e3 said it is an IPS alpha, so I'm going with it. I managed to find one for a reasonable price and I will tell you guys how it is; I have read good reviews on amazon, and the only things people complain about are backlighting on the remote and the whole difference between "wifi-capable" and "wifi-ready," which frankly I don't care about.
post #3674 of 4028
Yeah, at Amazon it does say the 37" E3 has an IPS Alpha panel, but the 42" E3 does not. Either way, looking forward to your report.

@Nintengaming

funny to see you here.
Let me guess, the reason why you deleted that thread you created about this entire input
lag ordeal in the NL Wii U forum is because of YellowChocobo's Jerkish and snide remarks? Either way,
you wasted other peoples time that were trying to help you including me, where you completely ignored
my HDTV suggestions and instead flocked to Skywakes meaningless LED-biased techno nerd dribble and then out of the blue selfishly
deleted the thread. XP

Anyways! SO it seems as far as 1080p LED's go, this years Panasonic E5 32" and 37" LED IPS Alpha panel
sets have the lowest input lag? Nice to know i guess, if i were to ever get a smaller set just for kicks
I'd definitly opt for this particular model. But I'm aiming for a 50", and i have my eye dead set on panasonic 2011 S30 1080p Plasma.
Supposably, Panasonics 10' and 11' plasmas have the lowest input lag period for 'any' panasonic plasma.
But i wouldn't bother with the 10' models since they're guaranteed to be weaker in black level and brightness performance.

Hello All,

I just purchased the 2011 Samsung PN51D550 for gaming only as it was under the list in the SRK website for Sub1 frame of lag. I would like to know if anyone here knows how to set it up for optimum performance in gaming or if anyone can refer me somewhere that can help. For some reason that I am not aware of, the SRK website will not allow me to reply to their input lag thread, it gives me the following message at the bottom of the thread, "You have insufficient privileges to reply here." I am currently using a RGB connection from my Xbox 360 and the only picture types that are available are Dynamic, Standard & Movie. It does not show a game mode. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Game Mode is buried in General settings I think its called. It's not in the picture mode. Scroll down on the menu before going into picture, and find General or something along the way. Go in and you will find Game mode, turn it on. Hope this helps.

Thanks Maverick, I found the game mode. Do you know of any other adjustments that I could make to this set for optimum performance in gaming ?

So, I have been using my panny c3 model for a couple days. The input lag is lw on this tv, but I'm really having trouble calibrating the picture. Almost to the point where if I put the back light at 50 , contrast around 88, I need to turn the brightness down to 0 so the picture looks really vivid . I have tried setting black level to dark instead of light, but not sure if this would increase input lag. My u3 model looked really vivid, aside from the dead pixels, but both the c3 and u3 are supposed to have same contrast ratio. Will give it another day, and mess around more tonight

Turn off any Noise reduction and motion control settings that you may find in the advanced menus.

Bah... the vendor (Electronics Expo) that I was buying the C3 from through Amazon didn't actually have any more in stock. They didn't even bother telling me for two weeks; Amazon sent me an alert to contact the vendor because it hadn't yet shipped. After I e-mailed them about the C3, they offered me a C5 "at no extra charge".

A} The C5 doesn't have an IPS Alpha panel in it, so this kind of offer is a non-starter

B} According to Amazon, the C5 costs $75 less than what they were chargiong me for the C3!

So I sent them a strongly worded response about the attempted bait and switch, as well as over charging me for the privilege of being screwed over. Obviously I am cancelling the order and am back at square one. I didn't want to have to pay more for a TV, but I may be forced to.

Maybe I'll get the 1080P LED 37" E3. It's a 60 Hz set, but costs quite a bit. We'll see.

Thats too bad, I've actually got my c3 picture settings figured out, and this is a great gaming set. Now I just have to get over the fact that its a 720 p set, instead of a 1080p set. Maybe this link will help you out, stumbled upon it while looking for a u3 ...http://www.lenharris.com/products/Panasonic/pan/tcl32u3.html

That's the one I've had for around six months. Thus far, it's a great gaming screen, I think you'll enjoy it.

How in gods name did you find a place that sells the u3, that doesn't mean they have it though, but still I couldn't even find any offers. As I told you already, I ordered a 32" e3, and I got a notification that it has shipped, It is essentially the same as the u3 except it has led as well. I bought mine for $400 off amazon, it looks like the same person made 2 offers to sell the tv, she posted once on the tc-l32e5, but this is likely a mistake that it is there since she probably has not taken it down since I purchased the set. Anyways, Joe I wish I could help you, but I had an incredibly hard time tracking down my own e3. Good luck guys, I will give my status report when I get my tv, ETA is about a week give or take a few days, you never know with snail mail.
post #3685 of 4028
I was looking at that site bucknuts found. It also says they have the e3, but their prices are ridiculous; I would love to know who is in charge deciding how much the "savings" are.

At least the company that screwed me over sent me a $20 Amazon gift card after I had them cancel the order.

~~~
Hmmm, I can't find any info about that Len Harris company on the web. Kinda strange they have a bunch of IPS Alpha panel models but hardly anyone else on the web has 'em. They might be refurbs or something.
I would probably call them, seems a bit strange that they have them and nobody else does.
Yeah, I found some basic info about the shop on the 'net. They look to be a legit outfit. I'll call them tomorrow to verify that the sets are new and that they are in stock before making a decision.
post #3690 of 4028
Mystery solved. Len Harris Inc. tells me they have none of the IPS Alpha sets available. I guess they are just lazy at updating their site.
