And next month when I get my Barnes and Noble Nook I'll load 'em all on it.

Ha! Thanks, but I usually don't use any manuals. I either download them for emergencies (which I obviously haven't done yet with this one) or figure it out on my own. Near two decades of home theater enthusiasm has taken me to a point where I usually don't need outside consulting, but I'm feeling unusually lazy tonight.

Then again...isn't there always the possibility that a software release could break something with SD DVD playback?

Disc looks perfect. The player wouldn't resume play again after hanging so it seems to me its not the disc but will keep my eye on it, no pun intended

For my BD80 hooked up to my older processor (DD only, no DTS) via coax digital, will I be able to listen to DD 5.1 on the blu-ray title Fifth Element Remastered if the audio listed is Dolby TrueHD 5.1? I have my BD80 setup for bitstream along with the down conversion turned on. I would think the BD80 would down convert the Dolby TrueHD 5.1 to lossy DD 5.1 but wanted to ask and be sure. It was a gift and don't want to really open it if DD 5.1 isn't provided. For DTS, I have my BD80 set to PCM so I can have 5.0 simulated surround. It isn't too bad but not nearly as good as DD 5.1. I don't mind doing this for Blu-ray titles I rent but prefer having DD 5.1 for titles I buy.

Does anyone know of a great site that accurately lists the audio formats on all blu-ray titles available??? I find that Amazon and even other sites don't have the correct audio formats listed. Some will say AC3 or DD 5.1 English to have DTS only with DD 2.0 or 5.1 in some other language.

Thanks,
Robert

I like this site for information on Blu-ray discs. You can look up individual titles.

Just ran across this helpful link for managing the LFE with analog inputs.
My problem was that my avr could not adjustable sub levels,

...so instead lower the rest of the speakers levels in the BD80's calibration menu to get the +10 increase needed for the sub.

I like to use this site (warning, bit of a modem burner):
http://www.blu-raystats.com/Stats/Stats.php

Use the filters to help you find certain things.

Ditto. I use blu-raystats.com all the time to look up what titles use which codecs (video and audio).

Only way to know for sure if it is a specific compatiblity problem with the title is to try the same title again (different copy).

Nice... I just bookmarked it.

Certainly possible. But unlikely. I think we've had enough time since the update went out that there would be more chatter on the forums if something were seriously busted in 2.2, particularly something as basic as DVD playback.

Thanks for everyone recommending the blu-ray stats site. I'll definitely check it out and sure I'll be using it a lot going forward.

Anyone want to give a stab at my first question??? Here it is again.

Does anyone know if the BD60 will play MKV files over a network?

I wrote that article. Glad you found it helpful.

I wouldn't recommend that. You raise the noise floor substantially and you have to really crank up the volume on your receiver to counteract the 10dB lowering of all the non-LFE channels.

Why not simply turn up the volume on your sub?

Well i've played about 6 discs since the 2.2 firmware upgrade and no freezes. The verdict is still out on whether it's resolved the freezing issue.

One of the things I notice with this upgrade is when you load a disc, it loads up at first, then goes back to the main screen, then starts to load a second time. I never noticed this before. It would always load the screen then go straight into the disc.

Also on my BRAVEHEART disc, it properly loads on my BD 60 with the SD card inserted. Before it would just give a blank screen after the first time it loaded. Still having the problem getting STARGATE to load with the SD card in. It loads the discs, takes you through all the previews, however when it gets to the theatrical, boots it the disc loading off? I have to load STARGATE by removing the SD card.

Hello everyone. Has anybody had this problem with their player? I have the bd80 and some are stretched out instead of keeping their normal ratio. I tried to play with the settings with no success... So I'm kinda lost here. Anyone???
I read the article by BYislander, thanks for the link. Now my question is why when I was running the test in the DMP80 didn't I hear any test signals coming through the speakers? When I play any Blu Ray the sound is great and the LFE is tremendous. I have an Integra 8.2 receiver and I just upgraded the input/output wires with cables from Tartan Cable. I did check the settings in the receiver with pink noise but it wouldn't let me do it in the multi channel mode in the receiver. What if anything am I doing wrong?

After not getting the AVP-Requiem not to play I was told to get a SD card for the player (BD-80) for the disk to play. I finally did this and this movie will still not play.

Any ideas?

I searched all over for an answer to this question.

I just hooked up my Panasonic BD60 DVD. But I can not figure out how to setup the discrete power on/off commands with my Harmony remote. I am able to do this with my Sony DVD/VCR and my Toshiba HDDVD player. But when I try to do the same with the Panasonic, only "Power Toggle" is listed as an option.

Does the BD60 not include discrete power on/off commands?

If it does how do I get it to work with a Harmony remote? I have the H628 model but I assume the process would be the same (or similar) for other Harmony remotes.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

I would say that if it isn't in the Harmony database then there is no discrete On/Off.

Panasonic players don't include test tones for the subwoofer. You need to use a calibration disc such as Avia or DVE to get SW tones.

Also, the AVR test tones usually don't apply to the multichannel analog inputs. You need to use the tones in the player or on a calibration disc.

From what I understand, True HD has a DD track imbedded in it and that's what you get when you bitstream True HD to a processor unable to convert True HD. So yes, any True HD title will play as DD 5.1 into an older receiver using coaxial input.

Yes, it does. See this post by Doug G: Go to ******* dot com slash yanrtv9

Open a support case with Logitech, paste the codes in, and say you want them added to the BD60.

I did this for my Harmony 670, and within 24 hours I was informed that they added the codes, and when I started my Harmony software it downloaded an updated library, and they were in there, and they worked. I was hoping that the codes would be there for everyone now, but apparently not.

In my previous post, the censored link was to a service that makes URLs tiny. The good news was that that was my third post, so now I can just link to Doug G's post like I wanted to.
What I did was using the old BD 30 (or maybe BD35) discrete commands and program it into one of my Harmony remote and use the other to learn the command into my BD 60 profile. I'm supprised that Logitech haven't put these commands into BD60. But if you only have one remote, email to logitech support will do as well.

For resume play, if you hit stop and power off it will remember your play position but only for one disc. If you hit stop twice or eject the disc it won't remember your play position.

I have only seen one Blu-Ray disc so far that had bookmarking available. However, I never tried it out and can't remember the name of the movie.

Know of any BD players that will resume play on BD-V and BD-J?

So is there any one out there that has issues playing divx movies on bd80 and appear stretched out and if so, do you know the fix? I appreciate if some one would talk about it. I've read a lot of posts and can't seem to find anything. Please please please...

BIslander, I'm not getting any test tones through the player from any speaker. As for my sub (Paradigm PDR12) I'm going to maybe have to turn it down with the multi channel sound!

None I know of for BD-J. Panny, and most other players, can resume from non-Java BD-V.

What is originating the tones?

How do you select the analog inputs on your receiver? What AVR do you have?

If you play a disc in the BD player and select the analog inputs, do you get audio to all of your speakers?
