Speaker Setup

Thread Starter
I have Klipsch RF-25 fronts, 4 Energy C-100 surrounds and a Marrantz SR5001. I have to wait to pick up the sub and the center. I have only the fronts connected right now and I was wondering if surround sound was worth it with out the center? Could I use one of the C-100 as a center while I wait? Any help is much appreciated.

Running without a center speaker and having a phantom center can work very well. I'm not familiar with the Energy speakers so I wouldn't venture to guess if one would work as a center. Try your setup without a center and see how it sounds. If you like it, great. If you don't then you haven't lost anything because you need to hookup your speakers anyway.

I can tell you that mismatch Energy with Klipsch is a NO-NO. They sound quite differently. The Energy would be considered as warm and laid-back speakers. They sound more neutral and flat.

So i would not use the Energy speaker as a center in your setup. You will hear the sound differentiated from left to right.

You can get away using them as surround tho. Altho its still not a ideal setup. I would look into changing the front speakers in the future since i dont like Klipsch harshness.
