Connecting HD Camcorder to HDTV directly...

After doing a week of filming I finally connected my Canon Vixia HG20 to my Samsung Tv via component...its Bluray capable and 1080p. But the image quality is dissapointing. The image looks great full size on my computer but doesn't hold the same quality on my 42" HDTV. Is this just the weakness of the camcorder or does it have something to do with formating and post editing? Is it because I am connected through component cables? I am using the yellow component cable to connect. Thanks.

How much of an improvement was it when you did use component/hdmi instead of composite? Just curious.

I can't speak for Spkelpdiver, but when I compared the composite cable to an HDMI cable, the difference was night and day. I haven't tried the component cables, but I would guess that they would look closer to the HDMI end then the composite end of things.

composite is sd only, so component/hdmi would be much much better.
