March 24th - Gefen Wireless HDMI Adapter (EXT-WHDMI)

Today's Show:
One issue many of us come across when setting up our home theaters is that the TV would look great in a particular spot in the room that is not necessarily the best spot for the source equipment. The dilemma is how do you get the video to the TV or projector. Gefen has you covered in this case. Their new wireless HDMI adapter will transmit HDMI audio and video up to 30 feet using Ultra-Wideband technology. But that is going to come at a cost. For that capability Gefen is selling the WDHDMI for $999. Still for some of you that cost is less than the cost of ripping up walls and running physical cables. more...

The MP3 file is empty.

EDIT: it's fixed now.

No HD audio = no dice. Especially for a grand...

Why are you saying, "no audio"? It says, specifically, it does audio.

I suspect the lack of support for HD audio formats won't matter to most people, since most people will only be using it for the connection from the receiver to a front projector NOT from the source to the receiver (or maybe something like a wall mounted Plasma display where they dont want to run cable up the wall) . In both those cases the audio is handeld by the receiver, so all the need is the video on the wireless link.

Are there even any people out there who still go directly from the source to the TV, without using a receiver? Or who don't co-locate the receiver and all the sources?

Exactly. I'm struggling to find cases where HD audio would come into play. Unless you have your components spread all over your room, it shouldn't matter.

I'm hoping the price on this comes down, or other competition shows up, because I would love to have something like this to send the video to my projector when I get my final theater done.
