So, i purchased (6)BL Control 29AV-1... I don't know what would be a good source to power them.

This is what i was looking at a sunfire SUNFIRE SZA-2200 SECOND ZONE amp.

Can someone recommend a good amp for these speakers? All these will be used for is stereo audio mainly sporting events on tv and a bit of music. ... these will be mounted in little bar. I really don't wanna fork out the money for a receiver with video capabilities i wont' use. i'd much rather stick to strictly audio.. unless, an AV receiver with good power ratings is the best way to go.

Hi,

Your 6 JBL speakers are for different zones?
You don't have a home theater system?

If you are only interested on a stereo amp, there are tons of them for very low prices, that will make the trick just fine for your JBLs.

If you want an A/V receiver with honest true power, don't look any further than the Onkyo TX-SR805, if you can find it. It has 130 watts x 7 channels, for a very low price.

For just a 2-channel integrated amp, you can check many places for a used one, from a good store with a good policy for return or exchange, if unhappy. I will rather deal with a good reputable audio store than take a chance from Ebay or the internet gambles.

That's my honest opinion.

Yes, i was just hoping to put all my money into an amp to which i will use all its available resources... Getting an av receiver may seem the best route, but i know i won't be using any of its functions other than "stereo mode" i'm still looking for an amp that will fine w/ these speakers. anyone that can point me in the right direction? i wonder if best buy charges a restocking fee for their amps.. but, i'd much rather save some money and buy it online. prices at retail stores go up sometimes 200 to 400 bucks!

Nominal Sensitivity4: 90 dB, 1W @ 1 m (3.3 ft)
Nominal Impedance: 8 ohms

Looks like they are not hard to drive so I would look at features of a receiver in your price range.

Ok, so... which would be the best receiver out of these for my use...

Pioneer-910W 7.0-Ch. Satellite Radio-Ready A/V Home Theater Receiver (VSX-1018TXH-K )
Yamaha - 910W 7.1-Ch. Digital Home Theater Receiver (Model: RX-V663BL)
Yamaha - 980W 7.1-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver (RX-V863BL)
Or
Onkyo TX-SR706

About an Onkyo 805 refurb? That will beat those ones, and the price will also be excellent.

And all of the one you mentioned are fine too, but my 2nd choice will be the Onkyo 706 or Yamaha 863.

I like the Onkyos for Audyssey Room correction and THX certification, which Yamaha and Pioneer don't have. If the difference in prices is not that much, go with Onkyo first, then
Yamaha second.

That's me owning all these brands; Onkyo, Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon and more.
I owned the 805, the 876, and I am familiar with the Yamaha and Pioneer sound, I still owned older models, but better sounding than the newer ones, and more expensive too.

Cheers,

That doesn't sound bad.. what's the warranty on a refurb model? and where can i pick one up? I have a yamaha HTR-5150 it's about 10 yrs old :-P but it still sounds good to my ears.. hehe... i guess 'cuz i haven't heard anything else.. so, i don't have anything else to compare it to... I might just take on your advice... i've heard really good things about Onkyo
