Most receivers/PJ's have a 12v trigger outlet for just such a purpose. This would send a signal from the receiver/PJ to the screen to go up or down depending on the situation. Monoprice should have the cable you need, I think in most instances it is a 1.5 or 3.5 mm plug just like a headphone jack plug. Other than that for my PJ install I ran HDMI, RCA cables (to cover component and a couple of extras), and of course power. Now I would have run CAT 6 as well as another HDMI cable too.

Thanks Rose,
In that show we shoot 5,6,8 & 12" dia shells, not your typical weekend cabin type of party.....

I ran a hdmi 1.4, and 1 cat6 cable, not sure if my receiver has a 12v trigger input, what then? This is only for future, it will be there covered up for a while, not like it will be used right now,
no cables from the pj screen, I would control the drop down screen with a remote, and not mess with any more wires....

Chad,

If you use a motorized screen you will obviously need power, if you are going to use a remote for the screen and not worry about controlling the movement of the screen with the receiver or projector I can't see the need to run any cables to the screen other than power. You should be covered with the HDMI and the CAT 6 cables.

I sure would like to be an observer for one of your "shell" parties. Sounds like a good time.

Ok, thanks.

These shows we do are for like city carnival shows, like the city of Minneapolis does the AQUATENNIAL every July, these shows are not parties, local carnival events...

Ah, that makes sense. Still at any rate would like to see something you had a hand in putting together. Pretty cool.

RT,

Let me know, maybe we can get Hanes and family together if your visiting in the future, if calendar is open, mid August is the time we do that show you saw pics from, but mostly during the summer others too.

Hanes must be making some serious progress today and yesterday....

Yea, From this I gather he is enjoying some R & R, getting his new theater seating properly situated from the pj screen, has his feet up, enjoying a cold frosty beer, or 2, or 3.......

He may have forgotten to run an wireless connection......

Thought I'd stop buy, I'm up north visiting my dad, and at the local library since he has no internet access, wanting to wish Hanes and everyone a great holiday and turkey day.....

We interrupt the Hanes Family Movie Marathon In an Unfinished HT to check in briefly with this important message from our sponsors:

From one turkey to another, Happy Thanksgiving, gang.

Gobble, gooble.

hanes - after a long respite, thought I'd stop by your build to catch up on your lack of progress. Glad to see I wasn't disappointed...

P.S. Hope your better half is doing well.

Didn't mean to overlook your fireworks contributions, Chad. I've been a bit caught in all the Black Friday/Cyber Monday hoopala. I had forgotten about the crowds out shopping on Black Friday.

But it was all worth it in the end, as I found an outstanding deal ...

... on a new high tech headset gizmo for my cell phone.

Impressed? I'm not surprised. But don't beat yourselves up if you didn't score big time like me - I'm an experienced professional.

Thanks, Bill. Glad my lack of progress continues to live up to deservedly low expectations! Obviously I've learned a thing or two about managing expectations!

And my bride continues to make progress, thanks. Two steps forward, one step back, but it's still progress.

But don't ask me about the kid I used to have - looks like he'll be returning to the nest again shortly after breaking up with the girl he moved half way across the country to chase. I'd like to think I'll be able to put him to work finishing various small tasks to finish off the basement project, but I won't bet the farm on that.

To quote Norm from Cheers: Women, can't live with em, pass the beer nuts.

How's it going, Hanes?

You aren't blaming a lack of progress on the recent deluge of snow, are you?

VERY IMPORTANT EDIT: post #1000.

In any case, they can fix it for the next home game...err, maybe the next one...or just watch movies at TCF Bank Basement.

This is the BEST no-progress thread on all of AVS. Hanes never disappoints!!!

Boys,

I'm actually worried about Hanes. Several heckling posts and not one rebuttal, not one! Does this strike anyone as odd or strange?

Hmmmmm.......Maybe Mrs. Hanes finally found all of the receipts for all the work that has been done in the entire build/remodel. That could explain a lot.

Hope all is well and there is nothing too out of sorts at the Hanes household.

I suspect he was the unlucky soul standing on the field when the Metrodome roof collapsed...

He should never have answered that advert for a "Free Vikings ticket, if you help us spot leaks in the roof".

Any body have a guess as to which side of a screen the power goes?? I'm prewiring a box in for a future screen, and would REALLY like to get it at least on the correct end of the screen.

Ok, we need to heat up this thread....

If you are still in the framing stage why not have power at both ends or just put it in the center so that way your covered either way. As for guessing which end the power would be I would be 50/50 at best. If you have a particular screen or manufacturer in mind look on their website and download a manual so your sure.

Calm down, minions! Back into your cages where you belong!! Ease your anxious little minds, as Das Hanesmeister is IN THE BUILDING!!

Well, it's been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon, the little town that time forgot and the decades cannot improve ... where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average.

No real work has been accomplished in the basement, or anywhere for that matter. Actually, your trusty scribe ran into a bit more of the whole UN-asked for, and UN-wanted, non-HT excitement when I went in for some gross surgery involving one of the main plumbing stacks in my neck (to use the proper technical medical terms). Nothing like this view from the operating table to make you realize how much you miss working in the basement.

So there's some good news and some bad news to share. The good news is I'm still very much here, with a dead sexy new neck scar to impress my family with, who are finally starting to warm to my repeated invitations to "call me Hanesenstein" (neck bolts and batteries not included).

The bad news I'm still here ... to make more useless, non-HT posts in what is extensively rumored to be an HT build forum. (Like I listen to rumors!) But I finally have a semi-legitimate excuse for doing squat for a while. I'm just relaxing on my lily pad, watching movies and driving my family insane. (I really have to try to remember not to refer to loved ones as "yo - wench!" and "you there girl!" while yelling for room service every 10 minutes. Who knew humor is often lost on those who need it most?!)

So, my AVS friends, stay tuned for more useless drivel and excuses originating from these coordinates in the days ahead: a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do! All for now - gotta go finish my morning exercises.

Hanesenstein ... HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!!

Welcome back my friend, welcome back!

Phew! I was getting worried there.......but only for a nano second. Glad to hear that you are still around spreading "love" around the house. Nothing says love to your spouse like "hey wench bring me another pint of ale!" Here is to a speedy recovery and a very Merry Christmas.
