Your memory cells are quite active for a guy of your advanced age! Heres another shot of my "sausage!"

But now back to our story!

The basement bathroom went from this beautiful gem tastefully decorated with just the right shade of wall mold ...

I sure do miss the mold though.

... and finally, the Home Theater area (such as it is) which was originally an unfinished area adjoining the unfinished laundry area used for storing miscellaneous household crap, including my then-teenaged son, who at one point inexplicably moved his "bedroom" into the midst of the area:

I'm nearly always puzzled! Yeah, that inflatable sausage was part of the crazy mold remediation thing that the guys wearing space suits used to safely exhaust the basement air (not to mention my wallet)!

I'm impressed that you remembered that from so long ago. I imagine some of the people reading this now may have been wearing diapers when this "build thread" began. Now I'm almost wearing diapers!

But unlike a certain guy who won't be named (cough cough! Logan!) I may be old, but at least I'm DONE (not to be confused with "finished!")

Thanks, Nick. Of course, living in Iowa as you do I'm guessing your threshold for what passes as entertaining may be a bit low!

No response, BTW, from the League. But my application is strong this year. A letter of condemnation from the deputy mayor - that's got to have some weight. So... fingers crossed!

Thanks, guys. I'm mainly relieved to have survived to see it done. Maybe that's why I took the risk of putting up the PJ before everything was done - because I wasn't sure I'd be here to see it complete. The family and I have enjoyed watching tons of movies over the last couple of years while slowly, gradually, I finished that last 5%.

Sometimes you just gotta throw caution to the wind and hope to defy the odds!

Guilty as charged I suppose. I prefer to think of it as simply being quietly patient with those minor last details until I could announce an end to things without feeling like I was slacking off here and there. Instead, I was apparently slacking off all the time, but just quietly interrupting my slacki-ness with some slow, steady progress. I know theater-wise my modest little room doesn't compare to most featured here, but it works fine for me, and as the before & after shots show, my basement is massively improved over where it was when the mold remediation began. Disaster really was the mother of renovation!

Time to boogie down, middle aged style!
