I haven't quit the project - just working on the unforgivingly slow pace that comes with this thread no longer being on warp build time. Where is that time travel machine when I need it?
Most of the recent developments (progress would be far too grandiose a word to use) have been minor, including more pulling of cables and drinking gin and tonics. And not necessarily in that order, or any order for that matter.
But since cables are cables, and pretty much the same no matter how many you pull, and because I'm desperate to show pictures of the basement of some sor
t to give myself the illusion of having done something, I give you updated shots of my equipment closet under the stairs, formerly known as the storage closet for sports gear and seasonal stuff.
Looking into the beautifully cleaned out equipment closet. You can also see some of my existing computer equipment (DSL modem, wireless router, HD Homerun DVR and a Sonos Zoneplayer) on the floor. All of that equipment had to have new phone lines, Cat 6 and electrical put in before I could relocate it to this spot, so just the fact that it is all there and working constitutes a minor miracle in my book! Plus as you see there is plenty of room left under there for the A/V equipment that I'm counting on you guys helping me buy in the weeks and months to come!
The wall at the back of the closet is the wall to the HT.
More proof that I have made some progress with pulling cables - two home run circuits for the equipment that I do not yet own! The plumbing you see will be removed soon - they used to connect to a sink in a bar I ripped out. There simply wasn't enough room for a bar in the main HT room. Plus it was old and dilapidated (like me). The HT room is on the other side of the wall to the left, where the water pipes are running.
The plan is to cut through the wall so the equipment can be accessed from the side wall in the HT, with all the tangle of wires and whatnot back here in the closet.
Finally, here's an exciting view from the back of the closet looking out towards the still unfinished bedroom/teen hang out room.
That door is only about 5' tall - queen munchkin size. I've whacked my poor head on the top of that door so many times now that what little hair I had is now officially all gone. (A moment of silence in it's memory, please. OK, that's enough - hand me another beer, will ya?)
It may be pathetic progress, but it's my
