Obviously the PS3 does. I also assume that the Sony models do as well. I know that the Philips, Sharp and Samsungs don't.........Are there any other players that do play it?

The OPPO BDP-83 does, both on disc and USB device.

Thanks for the replies...........that's good to know that the Pannys do. I am looking to get another BD player and wanted some confirmation about what players play AVCHD from my Canon Vixia HF 100 HD camcorder.

Panny DMP-DB50 does, as does the Sony BDP-S300.
my sony s550 doesn't quite.
my dad's panny bd35 does.

I have a Vixia HF10 which is identical and I've burned all the AVCHD movies I've taken with it to DVD-Rs (DL and SLs) and all play fine on my S550 (except chapter skip and search is kindof flaky)

I am very interested in playing AVCHD on BD player. Does anyone know where I can find info about the playlist editing? I want to merge multiple recordings into a single DVD-R. And maybe do some simple editing like shuffling and reducing the length (yes, the playlist file can shorten the clip)

i think that qualifies as 'doesn't quite'

fwiw, the files were sourced from an HF11, and edited w/ final cut pro,
burned to dvd-5 (and BR) using toast 10.1

menus look great on the panny,
don't appear on the S550.

There's some good info in the camcorder area..........but yes there are several software applications that can help you edit and put several recordings on a single DVD-R. They also allow you to apply menus, chapters and etc. Some of the popular software programs are: Pinnacle studio plus 12, Adobe Premier and After effects, Ulead and Vegas movie studio platinum 9.

What software is recommended for authoring the most compatible AVCHD video to DVD-R?
Samsung BD-P1200 plays AVCHD with firmware 2.1 and 2.2 (not sure about earlier versions). Does not play AVCHD with newer firmware. I would stay aside of all Samsung players because they think it is ok to remove features.

That is a loaded question.......I don't think you'll find a consensus around here. I just use the software that came with my camera for basic burning of DVD-R to play in my PS3. All of the AVCHD format HD camcorders come with basic software to do that. But if you want to do a lot of editing and add menus and effects, then you should get better software. Go over to the "other areas of interest" and go to the camcorders forum here on AVS. There is a ton of discussion about this very thing. Some of the more popular software titles are Pinnacle studio 12, Corel video studio pro x2, Sony Vegas and the Adobe's version. ( I forgot what it's called)

The info. on the new Pioneer players lists AVCHD playback in the specs. I think Pio's older players are confirmed to play AVCHD as well.

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a lot at the camcorders forum. I don't have an AVCHD camcorder, but I'm looking into converting various video file formats to AVCHD now that I have a new player that plays the format.

Is seems that not many people is interesting about how to convert MKV video (not from camcorder) to AVCHD. Such as software type..... Like I have the problem with Panasonic BD-60 but not Sony PS3 palyer.
PS3 will play almost anything you throw at even if it is not authored to AVCHD spec. BD players stick to AVCHD spec. So, check your AVCHD format. A lot of early versions of authoring software got it wrong.

Thanks, it seem that it just post on the site today and Davsim did not tell it was a SD card or DVD-R. Right now I try to use Nero9. and will report how it goes. And I just register with Doom9 and it will take me by the end next week to ask Davsim that it was for SD card or DVD-R!!!!

After converted the MKV (1.5GB) file by using tsMuxeR convert to AVCHD aproximately 1.6GB (very quick convertion), then I burned the DVD-R by using Nero9 (to "to author, edit, and capture video" > "Make DVD" > "AVCHD"). For fast encoding I used high quality and custom quality setting to 4000kbit/s and and video size is 1920x1080 and the output to DVD was little more than 2GB. It took almost 1 hour to convert to burn the disk. This time the Pana BD-60 recognized the disk and the display showed PLAY. Unfortunately, that my Sony LCD XBR4 flashed the screen <1s then went blank, but the BD-60 was still on the "PLAY" mode.
Can someone give me the idea what did I do wrong?

I've been following that discussion and it seems that a new version of multiAVCHD has just been released for testing on SD cards.

I know nothing about Nero, but tsMuxer output should be ready to burn. Try using ImgBurn (free) to burn UDF 2.5. It sounds to me like you're double re-encoding/re-authoring when you put it in Nero. tsMuxer output is known to be compatible if you use ImgBurn, so don't bother with Nero (who knows what Nero does to the video format and file structure).

Thanks, I will try it then. Will report when finish.

Wymann, I 'm done through your information. The BD-60 said it's incompatible after reading the disk.
