many of us use monoprice hdmi cables with no issues... basically, hdmi is an "all or nothing" technology... picture is good, then you get "sparklies", then it falls off the cliff... there are several articles on the subject that a quick google search will net you...
as far as speaker wire, the only comment i have on that is that imo, wire is wire... as long as the gauge is sufficient for the run, it's all the same...
You are wasting your money on 'audiophile' brand cables. For speaker cable, just use whatever brand will get you the biggest CSA for the best price. For HDMI, I doubt I would spend mush on a 'better' brand (when I actually get HDMI) based upon this report in Australia's leading consumer magazine. Oz Choice Magazine AV cable article

I personally don't want the speaker cable to interfere. Some of the exotics could indeed color the sound significantly depending on the amp they are used with. If that's what you want, fine, but a graphic equalizer is a lot cheaper and more flexible!
You guys are nuts. My electrons definitely prefer a designer jacket for the copper they pass through. The electrons are always much happier, vibrant and well adjusted than when using some generic stuff. It's a matter of pride and self confidence that can't be had when you're seen wearing generic.

nah, mean and unhappy electrons are MUCH more dynamic...
