Hey guys - I'm in the market for a new 32" LCD.
It must be a Panasonic. I've seen a lot of the components these TV's use, and Matsushita stuff is always top-notch. Well I guess they're not Matsushita anymore, now that the entire company is called Panasonic, but anyways... Always well laid out boards with quality components, especially the capacitors they use. Our bargain-basement 42PX80U has all Rubycon and Nichicon capacitors
.
So the obvious choice here is the new L32X1. I've played with the set many times at Best Buy and it has impressive PQ, it really showed up all the other 32's around it. I know Panasonic is breaking out the L32C12 later on this year, but it just looks like a cheaper version of the L32X1 so screw that.
Two things that might be a problem though - first, the power cord is attached. I don't like that, and quite frankly I expected much better from Panasonic. Definitely not a deal breaker though.
The deal breaker is that there is no udio output. Couldn't find it on the set. However, I didn't look too hard, and I'm reading on Panasonic's website that the set has "Digital Audio Output, 2ch at HDMI". I won't be able to head down to BB again any time soon, so can anyone tell me what that means? Is there an HDMI out that does just audio or something? Is there any way to turn that into analog audio that I can feed to a 2ch stereo receiver? This TV is so new that there doesn't even seem to be a review anywhere yet, and no pictures of the rear connectors anywhere online, so I was hoping you guys could help me figure this one out. No audio output would definitely be a deal breaker on this otherwise excellent TV.
