Re xxx 18

Thread Starter
I just received my RE XXX 18 and I'm looking to tune it LOW as I Have Klipschorns in front. I have built a 17 Cubic Ft bench seat box. I was thinking of using this port design Haliaetus Firebird (revolutionary port design?) from speakerplans.com any input would be great. What freq would be good to tune to, it has a res freq of 15hz a 54 x max It's a monster. John

Yep. That's a link to my sub that Dan posted. It's long but there is a lot of good info in there. I wnt with 25cu ft tuned to 11hz powered with a CE4000 (2800w) GL man and enjoy the sub, they are fun. If you have any questions, ask away.

You can also copy the material from my build thread (see sig) as it is almost identical to Ricci's XXX18 build. I built two and use Sound Splinter RL18's instead. The alignment is the same so you would get similar if not identical performance from either box. Ricci's looks a whole lot nicer though...

Good luck with that monster!

True, but this driver needs some more port area.

Definitely. I am sure this big ol' box can fit a much larger port on it though. Hell, this badass mofo could fit a 18 inch diameter port on it if I really wanted too.

Time for a retrofit! I think a 12" would be just about right. Then you can use a basketball wrapped in a towel for a port plug.

When we were looking at the design, I was looking at a 12" quicktube for a 20hz tune. That alignment looked like it would be flat to 20hz outdoors.
