Need help to distribute audio/video in appartment...

Hi everyone,
I'm posting here to ask you about a solution that would be fullfilling my needs.
I'm in the process of redoing an appartment and i'ld like to include all the audio video distribution system.I'ld prefer something i can install myself with the help (for wiring) of my electrician.
The thing is there's a while since i didn't care much about it and i'm quite lost about what to pick.

So first of all i'm trying to express my needs:

Audio only (Through micro integrated speakers in the cornice):
Hall
Dining Room
Living Room Zone 1
Main Bedroom
Guest restroom
2 Children bedroom

Video+Audio

Living room Zone 2 (Need Good 5.1 sound but integrated)
Library (Needs HI FI 2.0 SOUND)
Parent's bathroom (tv as speakers)
Children bedroom (tv as speakers)
Kitchen (tv as speakers)

So for all these zones, i'ld like to be abble to have as sources:
SAT
Cable
2 servers (for audio and video)
IPOD docks in the 4 bedrooms(parents, childrens and guest)and in the dining/living room.

And and independant DVD player for living room ,children's and guest's room.

Also i'ld like to have a few remote touchscreen (like pronto) to access everything from everywhere.

So , i whish you can understand... not easy to explain...
Then i thought about AVAtrix as cat5 system is easy.... but not sure ....
I thought about mixing a SONOS system for audio + an Avatrix for video... But then i'ld have 2 remote in each room...
Then i thought about the new Crestron Adagio but that doesn't distribute video....

And above all...There's a budget to deal with....A confortable one but still...
So everyone....Could someone help? Show me the way?Show me products i don't thought/know about?

Thanks a lot.

You're talking about a very sophisticated system here - way over the head of the weekend DIYer. My best suggestion is to delve through the articles at this site and see what you can figure out. That and study the manuals of the hardware you mentioned.

Thanks Wayne,
Wouldn't an Adagio do the job?(problem being distributing video)

I know it's sophisticated but i guess Crestron adagio, sonos or Avatrix are not far from my goal ....Any help????

When you say different zones of audio, do you want each zone to be able to play something different or can a few of them be combined?

No audio speakers in the kitchen?

Video zones, are you talking about 1 main sat box or a sat box for each zone? Can any of them be combined?

There are a lot of systems out there. Some will fit your needs others will need to be combined w/ other systems, but that may cause the use of more then 1 controlling system.

I would recommend looking into Control4. It would be slightly easier for you and the electrician to wire up since the keypads and on wall touch screens only require 120v power (some cat5e also). The speakers would be home run with normal speaker wire. For video use 3 or 4 cat5e wires (future use) and baluns to pass the video.

Honestly, there is 99% chance you will need to bring in an A/V company to do the programming. I would highly highly recommend bringing them in for a consultation, tell them your exact needs and what work you plan to do yourself. Work with them around that.

Crestron's Adagio and the Control4 aren't options for a DIY project, neither mfgr offers programming solutions for end users. In an apartment, I would strongly suggest you consider stand alone network devices like Sonos and TivoHD. One of each in the entertainment spaces might be enough for you. If not, the nest step up the ladder is a unified network based controller like CQC or HomeSeer.

Good Luck,

Thanks JCmitch.
Welle i've had a look and made a little change ...
Thing is i thought about the avatrix but then i understood it's not abble to split audio and video
I mean by the end i'll have 10 zones.
6 AV(living room, library,kitchen,bathroom 1, child room, child room2)
4audio (dining room, hall,bathroom2,main bedroom)

For now i thought i could listen source 2audio in dining room ,source 3audio in hall and look at source 2 in living room, source 3in child room and source 5 in kitchen. For example....
But if i guess well, the avatrix audio extender doesn't allow more zone.... one the zone extender do it but then it's useless as i'ld have to add CAT5receivers in the control room right to the avatrix just to plug the audio output into the power amp.... (am i clear? :? )

The thing is i need to install it myself but with a final result that'ld be nice.... I can't take an installer as here (in europe) your products are allready very expensive and having them installed is really really out of the budget i've been given...

Well....is there a product i'm ignoring about? A way of thinking it i'm not seeing?...

What about russound systems? they look quite afordable and apparently a CAV6.6+CAM6( +SMS3) would do the thing....no?

Any suggestion from users/installers?

Thanks.

Actually, they do. Composer Home Edition is availble from Control4 that allows you to do quite a bit of programming on your own, save for modifying connections or adding new gear to your project. It offers more "end user" control than Crestron or AMX at this point, as they dont offer anything comparable.
