Website with streaming HD content. Mostly a showcase for technology instead of entertainment content, but really cool stuff.

Great to have you here! A few questions if you don't mind...

What has your experience been with hosting and streaming HD content? Do you have any data on the percentage of users who have issues with bandwidth demands, etc?

So far, with not many videos it's been pretty simple. However, there are plans for a much more advanced system to deliver content. Another (minor) issue is the fact that our servers are all European and there are sometimes some speed issues to the US. No data on bandwidth demands yet, though our bitrate is lower than others but we compress better (see: http:// www dot highdefnow dot com /compares/ )

Another issue with User-Generated-Content is currently a lack of knowledge about HD. A lot of people on other sites upload upscaled material as "HD" (merely because the higher bitrate makes the picture look slightly better) and for those who do upload proper HD, a lot use poor encoders that make the picture look pretty bad. So one of the things we aim to do is to educate users to produce HD that looks better by using good encoders
