Vinyan - Bleak and grim.. but effective.

"Vinyan" - A couple are looking for their child who was lost in the tsunami - their search takes them to the dangerous Thai-Burmese waters, and then into the jungle, where they face unknown but horrifying dangers.

I don't believe there will be many AVS'er who will like this film. Most will find it bordering on the edge of boring and annoying and will hit the eject button within 30 minutes. For those that watch the complete film you may wish you had hit the eject button, unless it hits you the way it hit me. "Vinyan" contains some fantastic jungle cinematography and without a doubt the last two scenes of the movie are disturbing and unnerving.

Bleak and depressing "Vinyan" doesn't seem to go anywhere; that is until after it's over and you realize you are still thinking about what just transpired (at least that is how it hit me). The very last two scenes are unsettling (especially the last scene) and will stick with you with long after the movie has ended.

Initially I was a little disappointed, but as I sat and thought about what I had just seen I began to appreciate the film. The desperation and unease I felt during the movie made me realize that the director had made his point very well!

Recommended for some, not recommended for most.

I wanted to take them both out!! ...very strange movie in that they start out in a very real direction..but the ending is extremely surreal. I still can't decide whether I liked it or not !

It took me awhile also but after thinking about it (even though I wasn't trying to) I decided I liked it.

As I stated in my first post, not many will like this film.

Actually, me too.
I was just revealing my misogynist side with that post.
