I was intrigued by the "superwide" feature on the Optoma 8200 that allows you to fill a 2:1 screen with 16:9 and 2.35:1 images by zooming to fit either height (2.35:1) or width (16:9) and cutting off a small portion of the edges. This would ensure the screen is always "full"
With the panny's zoom memory feature, this would be easy to emulate, although I guess there would be some picture going off the edge of the screen. Anyone tried this? Is it a worthwhile idea? I'm helping a guy put in a home theater and he doesn't want to listen to aspect ratio stuff, he just wants a "full screen" (this is a guy who stretches SD to fit his 16:9 TV).
Thoughts appreciated.
Thanks
