Hello, does anyone know where one could still buy the older (previous) polk audio RTi series speakers? I'm looking for a pair of just "one" of the following.

RTi6s
RTi8s
RTi10s
RTi12s
Fxi5s

Thanks guys

What's curious about your request is that you can take any pair of the following.
RTi6s
RTi8s
RTi10s
RTi12s
Fxi5s

The Fx speakers and RTi's serve a completely different application unless you plan to use Rti12's as surrounds. What Polks do you already have?

I currently have:

Fronts RTi10s
Center Csi5
Surrounds Fxi5s
Rear Surrounds RTi6s

My goal is to take a pair of the above and possibly replace with higher end RTis. So, for example, replace RTi6s with RTi8s, or RTi10s with RTi12s and move RTi10s to rear surrounds. I want my speakers to all match. One pair I'll be moving upstairs for music listening.

Unless you're listening to multichannel music like SACD or DVD-Audio, large speakers like RTi10's as surrounds would seem to be overkill. Not that much info goes to surrounds in movies or TV. Mainly just background music, crowd noise and ambient sounds.

I think I would just buy the Rti8's and use them for two channel stereo upstairs. The current Rti6 as rear surrounds are fine where they are.

How does your current system sound to you? Do you have a subwoofer?

If you found RTi12, I would replace the RTi10 and move them upstairs.

Hypothetically let's say I had the RTi12s, RTi10s, CSi5, FXi3s, FXi5s, RTi6s, and sub, which speakers would you choose and where would you (or anyone reading this for that matter) place the speakers? I right now have a Denon 3808CI at 130/channel. I'm a bit concerned it may not be able to push the RTi12s enough, although the RTi10s sound pretty good when I listen to music and home theater.

The speakers placed upstairs will be powered by the same Denon 3808CI hooked up with the multi-room feature. I'm not sure if that means they can output the same 130/channel though.

Here is also a reference guide from THX of how to place the speakers. Kind of weird how they recommend placing the rear surrounds. I was thinking even if the RTi10s were placed in back, that the adyssey calibration included with the Denon 3808 would make use of them accordingly.

If you want 7.1 and then 2.0 upstairs I'd go for RTi10 or RTi12 upstairs and then the other towers as fronts, CSi5 center, FXi5 surround and FXi3 surround back. You've got 11 speakers and only need 9. Either the FXi3 or RTi6 will be left out.

I'm not sure if you'd need a better seperate external amp to power the RTi12 or not. Don't know enough about them.

I also want to mention the denon allows for the surrounds to be split and offers the ability for two pairs of surrounds (A & B). So that's a total of 6 speakers for surrounds. I'm not sure if splitting them splits the 130/channel to 65/channel though.

Nevertheless, I could utilize a total of 2 more speakers considering this. I wanted to throw this in to the mix for those looking to help me to consider.

Let the recommendations come!

-Thanks for all the feedback

Hey I realized I should have answered this. Right now I have only 5.1 (minus sub) setup upstairs. And sounds good. I really like the polk RTis.

When I move downstairs it will be 7.1 (again minus the sub). I'll be able to arrange the surrounds better downstairs so I'm excited to see how it sounds when I get it down there.

Thanks again for all your help. As of right now I've decided to just stick with what I have as my wife mentioned this morning she'd rather not have any towers upstairs.

5.1 (minus sub) or 7.1 (minus sub) is called 5.0 or 7.0. The ".1" is the subwoofer.
