USB port on the new LG plasma

I have tried everywhere to find information on the effectiveness of the USB port on the new LG PG 60 series. Probably because it is such a new set, information are hard to come by.

I have bought the new 42PG60 plasma set mainly due to the addition of the USB port, rather then watching movies through the s-video output.

When played through the USB, all of the various formats seems to be working fine, except for the syncing between the picture and audio. Sometimes the delays are short, which is a minor irritation, but other times the picture and sound are completely out of sync. Then I'm not even connecting the set to the amplifier, this happens when the sound is played through tv's speakers.

I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar problems.

I have tested out the USB port on the samsungs and have had no issues while playing Divx avi movies via usb. I am not sure about LG. Another option is to hook up a phillips dvd player with usb support. I have used this device before and it works great. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ips-_-82641285

Just a quick update to anyone who is interested:

I have tested various media formats through the 42PG60 and 50PG60 plasmas. I went back to the store where I bought my plasma and tested the same media formats on a number of the demos in store. Exact same sync problems on these plasmas. So the problem seems to be much bigger.

maybe they need a firmware update to fix the issue
