With the way things are happening in the home theater industry, I thought this might be a good place to discuss players you own, had, or are considering, as well as sharing advice regarding what player to consider. Let me begin with the sad reminder that according to http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/content/pr...ment_2009.html, Pioneer has decided to discontinue all home theater products and stick to car and DJ products. This means there will be no more DV-49AV, DV-58AV, DV-610AV, DV-800AV, or DV-LX50 available in the near future unless you get your hands on used ones. At this point, we have the Oppo DV-980H which can send all SD formats via HDMI including DSD and high-resolution PCM. It has several video adjustments, except for the black level shift via analog (0 -IRE/7.5-IRE). It can be easily be made multi-region. If you are still using analog, it converts DSD to PCM before it reaches the analog 5.1 output. There is the Onkyo DV-SP506, which I'm not sure about multi-region playback, but can play DSD via analog using the high-quality Burr-Brown PCM1796 DACs. It can also send DSD via HDMI. There's the Denon DVDA1UDCI universal Blu-ray player which has the best audio and video via both analog and digital, but you'd have to be a celeberty/celebraty(Sp?) to afford that one--LOL! Finally, Oppo should soon release the BDP-83 which has Anchor Bay video and DSD via HDMI, as well as DSD via analog. I don't think it will be able to be made multi-region. Of course, if anyone knows of any other HDMI 1.2A or 1.3A players that either I missed or surface later, please feel free to add them to the discussion as well!
