Is the Denon 3808ci a good choice for me?

I'm currently running a Denon 4800 (old guy). I love it and want to stick with Denon, but I'm realizing that I need some HDMI inputs.

I know the 3808ci does analog to digital conversion, but I only hear this in reference to upconverting to 1080p. My tv is 720p. Does this matter? Can I run my Xbox360 with component to the receiver and then HDMI out to the TV?

Between the 3808ci and the 4308ci, I will hardwire it to my network, so I don't need wireless. I don't need HD radio. No plans for utilizing video in a second zone. The only thing that is pulling my ear to the 4308ci is the AL24 processing on all 8 channels vs. the 2 with the 3808ci. My room is pretty big with high ceilings, but the watching area is relatively small. Also, I'm likely to only use 5.1 channels due to the wife not digging more speakers. Anyone able to say the upgraded AL24 processing is worth it?

Thanks for any advice!

Yes. The 4308 is probably more than you need and way more expensive.

love my 3800 and find it more then enough i think the 4308 may be a tad much for most people so my vote is just get a 3800

Thanks guys. Any idea about the conversion from 720p component to 720p hdmi? I'd love to have a single cable running to the TV.

You simply tell the 3808 to turn on video converting for the source select/input and then set the parameters in the HDMI setup section.
