Pioneer PDP-507CMX as a KURO alternative for a Directv HR-22?

Thread Starter
Hi,

I like the KURO displays from Pioneer but I am very tight on budget (about 1k max). I notice that I could get PDP-507CMX which is a monitor only -- does this display compare favorably to other 50" Pioneer sets (either Elite or non-Elite?) Does the ability to calibrate it make it easy to adjust to ISF settings (or similar settings)?

Moreover - I notice that there is only a DVI connector and no HDMI connector, so I would need to use a converter to convert it from my Directv HD DVR model HR-22 output... Has anyone done this? I guess I am outputing 720p going into a 768p monitor/screen - if I don't buy the associated external processing board - does this work?

I quick scan of previous threads doesn't answer all of these questions and/or the threads are very old.

Thanks in advance. Marv

I know you mentioned a $1K max budget, but I saw the PDP-5010FD at Sams Club for $1,500 this week. Lowest price I have seen for a KURO - although it is an 8G display...
