52 lbs. is probably the shipping weight which includes the box.

A difference of 15 pounds, though?

Weight the box if you have it. My box weighs 20 lbs. but is much larger and is a double box. Could be your scale is off a little to. Doesn't really matter. If it weighs 37 lbs. that's what it weighs. I would not be concerned.

Mine weighs 37lbs as well, but it has not concerned me in the slightest. It outputs incredible amounts of low frequency bass without bottoming out.

I have 2 of these now and I'm surprised how "light" all of my BIC Acoutech speakers are but, boy, this PL-200 drops some SERIOUS bass. My better half is constantly complaining how the living room is 'booming' from what i'm watching upstairs in the man cave. cool.gif

I'm trying to buy this for my parents but am not having much luck finding it online. Where did y'all buy yours? Any deals going on?

I'm in process of getting my theater finished.

Last night I did a sound check for the first time. I used a PL-200 in my last, smaller theater. My last theater was 12 x 15. My new theater is 14 x 23.

I know I need to tweek the receiver for best sound, but at receiver factory settings, my sound check did not produce nearly as much bass as my last theater. I used to keep my PL-200 at the 10:00 position. I bet I had it at the 3:00 position last night. Anything past that gave me a little bit of distortion.

Do you think the problem is my receiver setting or do you think this sub is too small for my bigger theater. I designed the theater to incorporate 2 subs, but I only have the one for now.

It will be awhile before I can tweek the receiver. It has on screen GUI and I'm unable to tweek until I get my projector.

Does your receiver have Audyssey? That's what you should use to set the proper sub level.
Yamaha has something called YPAO. It uses a microphone for speaker configuration.

I hope it's a receiver configuration issue.
My neighbor has that avr and YPAO calibration. I'm not sure how you calibrate the sub with it. I have 2 PL-200's and the volume on them is not turned up very high at all.

Did you make sure you found the best place for your subwoofer or that you are not sitting in a possible null?
You beat me to it. It sounds like a placement issue causing null zones and a cal may not fix it. You might have to do a sub crawl or add a sub or two or three. After fixing that then you could calibrate. Another sub can help quite a bit but still placement could be a factor. I'm not an expert but this is where I'd start. Google sub crawl and sub null zones also move around the room with a steady low note or beat and listen for louder and quieter areas then try the sub in the louder area.

I currently have a bic pl200 and it's nice, but I'm looking for more power, low end bass.
Am I better off getting a second bic 200 or just buying a sub like the vtf-2mk4 and going with one of those?

If I did buy the vtf, could I still you the 200 and run it as a second sub, or would the vtf be overpowered?

If I go with the route of buying one more powerful sub instead of another bic does anyone have any recommendations? It doesn't have to be the hsu vtf series but that's the price range I want to be in (500-600 bucks)

Current setup:

Fronts-energy rc-50'
center-energy rc-lcr
surrounds- energy rc-10
receiver-denon avr1713
sub- bic pl 200

Room size: 14x17x8 (but at some point this will be going into a larger room which is why I'm wondering what to do)

primary use: ht and tv

in summary is two bic 200s better then one ID sub (hsu) or can I have one of each and use them in one system? (bic and hsu)

From what I've read (quite a bit actually) if you're going to use 2 subs in your HT set-up it's always best to get two identical ones. That doesn't mean you can't mix and match but it's best to use 2 of the same. So I'd suggest getting another 200 or sell it and buy two other subs. I did the first: bought a second PL200 and now I have my Aperion 7.1 set up for sale.
In my mind, running two identical subs would be easier than running two drastically different subs. If you have one sub that rolls off around 30Hz, and another sub that rolls off around 20Hz, then your in room response will be far from flat. You will have a huge loss of output between 20 and 30Hz relative to the rest of the frequency response.

I don't think anyone is saying it's impossible to integrate various, non-identical subs. But that it should be drastically easier to integrate two identical subs.

I just ordered the PL-200 from Acoustic Sound Design and the coupon code (tv15) was still valid. 15% discount with free shipping to Canada seems like a good deal. Its replacing a blown Polk PSW202. Primary use for HT and PS3 games.

Update:
I received the sub...customs (duty, GST ect) was around $40 and the UPS brokerage fees was also about $40.
Still tweaking around with the sub and my receiver, but so far I think it will be a nice fit.

Hi guys. I'm considering getting one of these for my room. I was wondering if any of you owners be so kind and measure the distance from front leg to the rear one. I'm wondering if I'd be able to use the SubDude with this sub.

From the leading edge of the front leg to the rearmost edge of the back leg is 17 inches.

Thanks, that should work no problem.

Having now spent the last couple of months with a BIC PL-200, I must say, it makes for a very nice sounding low frequency speaker! I'm using mine to just give my center channel some low end capability. My right and left mains sport powered 12" drivers of their own, so I was looking for something similar to match their output and this sub fills the job perfectly. I'm really quite impressed. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to add low frequency capability to their center channel.

I just set mine up with my 2 front tower speakers using my denon 1913 receiver and while it works, but my subwoofer isn't really "thumping". I'm not sure what setting to change to fix this. Obviously not overpowering, but everyone here says that this thing should really boom at higher volume settings and mine isn't. Any thoughts about what I may have set wrong on my receiver?
Thanks
Be sure your subwoofer output setting on your receiver is turned up.

I ran the audyssey calibration but the sub crossover was set to in, I think it might make a difference if I set the sub to Out and rerun the calibration right?

I am very confused by your question. What Audyssey are you running (XT32, etc)? How do you have the sub connected Y-split or direct connect (direct-connect is the best)?
There is also a switch on the sub (I forget which one) that you need pushed in the correct angle (again, Im at work but forget which swtich and label to be pointed to).
If you have the option to disable the crossover - and it appears you do (setting the switch to "out") - disable it. (If you don't have an option to disable the crossover, turn the crossover knob to the maximum setting.) Then re-run Audyssey. Then set all speakers to "small".
