Hi all. I'd like to get an opinion on how the PL 200 would fit in with my current setup.
I've read a few things that concern me; that these roll off fairly soon so may not be the best match for smaller main speakers, and that they aren't, in general, really that suited to music. I've also read that they are outstanding, especially considering the price which I unfortunately must.
My current setup is a Denon X1000 AVR, and Monitor Audio Bronze BX2 front speakers. I'll soon add the Bronze Centre speaker, before the sub is added. There are no surrounds or sides. The living room is about 7m long and 4m wide x 2½ m tall, with quite a lot of furniture. It's a unit/apartment so I don't / can't play anything loudly. I'd equivocate and say 50/50 movies/music, though they really must behave properly given decent audio source. This's the first time I've purposely built a system, as opposed to just using whatever was laying around (at other ppls places...
and within a fairly small budget I can do anything I want.
The X1000 is this years model, has Audyssey for sub set up, and is imho a great receiver. The BX2s sound great but are, being small, not capable of low end presence though they are surprisingly solid.
Would a PL200 be at home in this environment? The other issue I have is in actually buying one, I live in Australia and the BIC retail policy makes it hard for me it seems. I assume I can overcome that, if there's a favourable opinion on what they'd be like.
