I had the crossover set to 80hz then as I went higher the sub got louder and the mains weren't putting out very much bass.If I lower the crossover setting to 40hz,the mains put out more bass and the sub doesn't.I now have the crossover set to 80 again and it sounds much better cause I adjusted the EQ on each main to put out a little more bass.I hope this is making some kind of sense cause im typing half asleep so please excuse me.

I went to 12 o'clock on the volume with the receiver at a comfortably high listening level and it was almost too much bass, leaning over the sub the sound waves were covering up and distorting everything else so it sounded like I was listening through a fan or something It's in the corner of the room right now, and seems to be a bit more powerful sounding, when I first set it up it was beside the TV, about 2' from the wall. I'll report back with more tomorrow after a day of tuning.

Also, not really a complaint, but I find it very hard to listen to a movie or play a game at low levels without getting up and turning down the sub. If I was trying to avoid waking up people anyway, if not, I could carry on as usual. Even now with my receiver at very low volumes, the bass is strong enough to be heard throughout the house. The "night" mode button doesn't do what I thought it did I guess.

Well if you just got it, you need to play with it some more to get everything sounding right. It won't sound right, right out of the box.

Well my plan was to break the sub in a little bit before putting in LOTR on blu-ray but I just couldn't wait. I watched FOTR and I must say that even without it being broken in, the sub sounded great. Very very strong bass and I only had it turned up to about 11pm on the volume dial. I may go back and revisit LOTR after it's been broken in but so far I love what I hear. Oh and Sam this is for you, my feet were vibrating the whole time. This sub really shakes things up.

I am waiting on a new receiver I got a peace of junk sony and i am using the speaker inputs and out wires to hook it up so hopefully a LFE output on my new amp well sound alot better then this speaker wire lol Do you think it well sound better with a LFE hook up rather then the speaker wire hook up??.. I don't know, maybe the input you are using is different, but if I turned mine all the way up I would imagine it would take about 2 or 3 big explosions in a movie and it would separate the driver from the surround. Or burn something out. Considering mine is less than half way and makes enough bass, I don't see needing to crank it all the way. The receiver or signal really shouldn't matter though, unless it is somehow reducing the signal, like -db.

Yea i crank the knob all the way up on the back of the subwoofer to the MAX and it pounds I dont really turn my reciver all the way up so i geuss its not technically all the way up.. Would I notice if I Blew something, Or damaged the speaker in anyway? How would I know if it is -db ?

NOT 11PM!!! You're supposed to use the AM settings! I still keep mine at about 10, because anything above that on mine sounds like it's putting a bit too much stress on it, and maybe like it's bottoming out. It will do 11 on some stuff though. My receiver LFE setting is always +8 or 10dB, depending on my bass mood. Might be why.
