I cannot compare it to any of the PL speakers since I do not have any, but the surrounds feel a bit thicker than the ones on the woofers of my jbl L880's.

Sure it's not just a textured rubber? Like with small dimples instead of smooth?
It feels like foam to me, but thicker than average.

The owners manual doesn't say, and all the website says is "injected poly''.

Just got an email from Sound Distributors that my PL-200 shipped yesterday and is due to arrive on the 20th. Woohoo!

Hi everyone,

I have been looking into the BIC for a little while now, but there is one concern I have.

Everyone seems to agree that the sub isn't to great for music, and I will be using this sub primarily for music.
What do you mean by 'its not great for music'? What about the sub is better for movies but not as good for music?
Sorry if that didn't make sense haha, just ask and I'll clarify what I mean

I am having troubles deciding on my subwoofer and right now its looking like this BIC might be the winner, but I first need to figure this out.

It doesn't have that fast crisp punch that makes a sub musical. But don't worry even subs like the SVS PB10 suffer from this. You should look into HSU subs if you're just using it primarily for music. ( HSU STF1 or STF2 would be nice for you and they are no slouch at movies ).

Great, thanks for the advice! I looked into the HSU STF2, and it looks quite nice to me.
There is one question I have though: My audio system will consist of a sound card thats in computer, and a pair of powered studio monitors. Am I able to hook either of these subs up to the sound card, along with my powered monitor's?

which soundcard do you have?do you have a picture of the connections or a link to it on the web?

doesn't look like its possible with those sound cards.looks like you need a dedicated 5.1 sound system with the first card and headphones with the second one

Ok, I only have a few minutes but I promise to update this later when I have more time. I know a lot of you have wanted to know about a comparison of the pl-200 and the ed A2-300. As I currently have both of those (as well as a couple of others) I thought I would post a quick response to those wondering if the ED is worth the extra $125. My answer is a resounding...maybe....
At first I was surprised that the pl-200 kicked the ED's ASS, and I mean by no small margin. I started by playing some stuff through my system and then swapped out the pl-200 and put in the ED. then I played some stuff again, after I reran audyssey (even though ED says not too, but that is another story)
I still preferred the PL-200. Then I had an epiphany and realized I had the ED in the sweet spot for the pl-200, so I did a quick sub crawl and then reran audyssey on the ED. Bingo, almost like a totally different sub in my system, much much more powerful and sounded better than the pl-200.
So, I guess the moral of this story is that room placement (as always) will be a HUGE factor, but if placed optimally the ED does dig deeper and sound better in my system. The pl-200 is no slouch, but the ED is better.
As always, the above is my personal opinion and in no way should you go and take ANYTHING I say as gospel. I just wanted to throw out my quickie comparo for those that kept asking.
Is the ED worth the extra money now that it is $415 versus the $290 you can buy the pl-200 for? that is up to you to decide, but the WAF factor goes toward the PL-200 in a big way because it is wayyyyyy nicer looking than the ED. Hope this helps someone!
Best,
Chris

I agree with this. I went back and looked again to be sure I still think it's foam, and I do. It's foam, but it's thick, and I have no worry about it. If I had to guess, it's at least 1/8'' thick, if not 3/16'' thick.

Foam isn't a big concern. I was just curious as it looked like foam from pics but the other BIC speakers are rubber. Even car subs used foam for a long time, and a home theater sub is not exposed to high heat, extreme cold, and UV damage, so it should last a very long time regardless. Foam probably flexes a lot easier than rubber so it probably helps with efficiency.

Ordered it from acousticdesign and it was delivered last Friday. I finally got to calibrate all my speakers and the sub on Sunday and then tested everything out using Terminator: Salvation BD (robot cycle chase scene). I had peviously watched this movie with my current setup of speakers and an older JBL PSW1200 so I knew it had a lot of bass and good surround. To make a long story short, I am extremely pleased with the BIC PL-200 and it obviously blew my old JBL out of the water. The bass is extremely clean and tight and not boomy like the JBL. When I watched with the JBL, everything shook and vibrated downstairs (not in a good way)...now after watching with the BIC, I see what everyone talks about when an inferior sub's bass is boomy. The BIC's bass was even more powerful sounding and feeling, but since it was extremely clean and tight, it didn't cause things to rattle. I look forward to watching more movies and breaking in the BIC. In case anyone wants to know, I am using a Pioneer VSX-819, Infinity Alpha 40s for front, Infinity Alpha center, and Infinity Alpha 20s for rear with the crossover set to 80Hz and the BIC's sub power setting at half. Thanks again for all the AVS forum contributors...you all were a huge help in getting the right sub for my price range and getting everything setup correctly.

Shack

I didn't thank anyone else had a JBL PSW-1200 but myself. Just sold it yesterday as I also received my new ED A3-250 yesterday. I really liked my JBL but thought it was time for the next generation of subs. Haven't had time to really play with the A3-250 yet other than a quick Finding Nemo Fish Tank Test. Definitely shook the house more than the JBL.

You are also selling the T300-210, how does this compare to the others you have on sale, just asking since there are not many reviews of it online.

Help guys. I will be brief. I have my finger on the trigger for purchasing another PL-200... Should I? I know I have heard talk of a second matching sub will increase SPL slightly and better fill out the range. Is it worth the purchase in your opinion? Preferably only people who know what they are talking about in this regard. Who that is I don't know.

The single I have is slightly underwhelming in the SPL department, and I know I can never expect musical greatness from it, but a little extra bump and rumble in movies would be great. Something I can actually feel in my chest, not just something I can hear and feel inside my walls (drywall rattling against framing).

Input appreciated.

That's fine adding in another one, but for the total price of both of them ( I am assuming in the neighborhood of $600 ), you're approaching the price of the SVS PB12-NSD which is known to go lower, and give that nice thump in your chest in movies.

Did you have to use a certain code or did you make a lower offer and that is what they came back with?
So one SVS PB12-NSD will beat 2 PL-200's in the SPL department, and go lower??? I was planning on dual PL-200's for my large room, but may reconsider if one SVS will do better..

I would doubt it would outdo 2 PL-200's in the SPL department, but it probably would dip down a little lower.
So AzN_plyR was just saying the SVS will go deeper therefore you'll get more of a "chest thump" because of that?

How much movie material is really recorded below 25-20hz anyway??

Does anyone have a true SPL graph for where the PL-200 really starts to drops off at?

I also stumbled onto the previously mentioned good deal from acoustic sound design. The woofer is listed here.

It is listed at $329 on the web page, but if you call them, you can get one delivered for $263.20. This deal runs through the end of May.

Good reviews @ Amazon.com

Checked the tracking information, and it now shows as being shipped from Vegas today with a delivery date of 5/26 to Ohio. Should be here just in time to try out the LFE of War of the Worlds Bluray.
