Yes, they are good guys. I will likely purchase other speakers from them again.
Little bit of an update...
The sub may actually be fine after all (at least I think it is). The blu-ray player I have is a Samsung C6500 and that thing is a piece of junk. It's quite possible during my audition of music something happened and the LFE cut out. I've experienced this issue with surround channel cutting out before, never the LFE but who knows? That player has a mind of it's own sometimes...
I have since tossed the Samsung aside and all test with movies on my PS3 have been fine. I tested War of the Worlds, Transformers 1/2, Gamer, and a DTS-HD demo disc. Not completely WOWED by the results but I am satisfied with the sub.
The PL200 is an upgrade with music but not as much with movies. It does hit hard as mentioned and roll off at higher SPL seems to be in the mid/high twenties which is impressive for the price I paid. The F12 had a sharp roll off right at 28hz at 75db. My SPL sucks but from a test I performed it looks like at the same freq I was getting +/- 100db. Roll off seemed to be right around 24-26hz at about 75db. This sub does gets lower than the F12 which is nice, if I do say so..
I will likely run it through a few more tests this weekend...
For EQ'ing the sub I have LPF maxed and gain at 9 o clock. the sub is in a corner with the port about 6" away from a wall. Audyssey set the sub right at 0db and I have left it where it put it.
Question, how do folks have their x-over switch set on the sub? I have mine to 'IN' as 'OUT' seems to be weak. Just wondering...
I think overall I probably would have been just fine with the F12 but it's also going to be different for a lot of people. I would say, if you own an F12 save the money for a true subwoofer. If you're looking at buying a sub now for a build? Skip the F12 spend the extra 100.00 and buy the PL200. Bottom line, this sub (like the F12) is a great sub for the money.
More than likely I will end up selling the PL200 in a few months and buying the HSU VTF 15. That sub is really quite impressive for the cash.
