'MythBusters' on Discovery HD - Page 8

Funny part is that I was visiting San Fran on Tuesday and stopped by M-5 just to see if anyone was outside. This is why they weren't there. lol

You probably know Mythbusters moved out of M-5, lost their lease on M-6 (weren't popular with the neighbors!), and are now located at M-7.

...

The cannonball was fired from a bomb range in Dublin, about 35 miles east of San Francisco in Alameda County. It was supposed to hit trash cans but instead soared 700 yards into the home of a sleeping couple, leaving a 10-inch hole in the bedroom wall.
The cannonball was traveling as fast as a bullet. It exited the house, bounced across four lanes of traffic, struck the roof of another house and then smashed through the window of a parked minivan.

No one was injured.

Neighbors said "MythBusters" often tries its experiments in the area, and they have grown used to hearing explosions.

You think they would hear explosions regardless if the MythBusters used it or not.

My thoughts exactly. It seems that if anything goes wrong on the show it is ALWAYS during the build team's segment.

I would never be shocked if one of the 3 get seriously hurt because of the stupid things they do.

Part of the problem is Tory volunteers to do some really stupid stuff.

It'll be Grant. Kari and Tory always jump behind him when something goes wrong.

Who'd more likely to get hurt first/more?

My order would be... 1. Tory 2. Grant 3. Kari

I'd almost put Grant and Kari as a tie for 2nd.

I didn't know that. Last I knew, they had M-5 and M-7. Jaimie and Adam shot at M5 and the other 3 shot at M7

Jaime still owns M-5. As Mythbusters grew it started taking over the place and interfering with Jaime's business so they moved the production to its own shop, M-6. M-5 has returned to its original business of being a shop for special effects designers.

There was also a rumor that Jaime was just tired of Adam wrecking the place. He dropped a bowling ball which cracked a huge chunk out of the concrete slab. Adam just shrugged.

In the background of early episodes you can see work done by Jaime's clients. There was always the risk of a Mythbuster experiment damaging it and costing him lots of money.

New season starts tomorrow night. Stuck on an island with nothing but duct tape. Should be interesting. lol

Oh yeah!?! YAY!!!
It wasn't really Mythbusting but it was fun and clever, and I'm sure they didn't mind writing off a trip to Hawaii.

True, but somehow more enjoyable than what's been on previously. No explosions in sight, that was nice!

Agreed. No explosions or bad acting by the Jr. Mythbusters made for a pretty enjoyable episode.

What would I take if stranded on an island? Kari Byron.

More interesting to me would be "stuck on and island with nothing but what you can find".

It would be interesting to see the cast pursue a true "shipwreck" myth - where the ship has gone down and you only have what you swam to shore with.

Personally, I'll take my house keys, money clip and shoelaces over duct tape any day.

Yeah there is always a fresh water river in every island.

That, for me, was the worst Mythbuster episode ever. The fresh water supply was the tipping point.

On large volcanic tropical islands with mountains, there usually is. It's most likely on the other side of the island though.

I am shocked that the build team lit the set on fire. I cannot wait for their cannon ball through the suburbs episode.

Not happening. They stated that they will ever air that footage.

If history is any evidence than you can bet that the build team was probably doing something really reckless and dumb. It would open a myriad of lawsuits to those suffering from emotional trauma from their negligence.

Airing the footage will not result in law suits. BTW, they have insurance for these things.

Another great and hilarious episode!

Sadly, I'd definitely bomb on... Grilling and Map reading

Ok episode.
Seemed to me that this was an excellent episode style from back in the first few season. Not only "can we pull this off like in the myth" but when that fails, "what do we have to do to get those results, no matter how crazy it is?"

Still, I want to slap grant and tori.

I think this was the cannon ball episode but without the drama. I would imagine the cannon ball skipped off the top of the bricks during one take and then went on to visit the neighbors.

No, the guys clearly stated in the Aftershow online video that the cannon portions from this week's episode were not filmed on the day of the infamous incident. Footage from that set of experiments (which were handled by the Build Team IIRC) will air in the future, but without any portions related to the misfire (to not exploit the danger that the residents of the damaged home were put it, according to Adam when asked the question at the Hartford live tour stop in March).
