Notice the margarita company in the credits? Now I wonder what was in a slushy...

I can't imagine Kari climbing up into their fake helicopter as well as Jessi did.

That's what I love about this show. They can sometimes take ever precaution in the world with some myths and totally botch safety in another.

I am enjoying Jessi, but can she please stop yelling whenever she explains a myth?

I think they're both great. Jessi has a grating voice but knows a lot more about mechanics than Kari. Kari is far more witty and entertaining, assuming that they don't give them funny lines like "bullet absorbent".

It is good to have her back. Although my girlfriend (retired air force) was laughing at her girlie grip on the guns and getting punched in the eye by the scope in the super slo-mo.

Is it just me or are they now just making up these myths? Its been years since i have even heard of the myth before they test it.

Wasn't that a .50 caliber gun she was shooting, the kind that can take down a plane? I'm sure the punch from one of those is a lot more than you'd expect after shooting rifles.

Note: I haven't watched the show yet, I'm just assuming it's a 50cal from other posts.

I'm ex-Army, father is retired Army, and a 50cal has one hell of a recoil. I've seen large men get hit with a scope before, it takes a few shots to get used to. To be honest, the only reason I didn't get hit was because I anticipated the recoil.
Kari had the 50 cal. The two guys had smaller rifles.
Glad having her back. Like the bigger bOObies too.

I watched it again and it looks like she didn't get whacked with the scope, only her hat did. This was as far back as it recoiled.

She had about two inches between her face and the scope.

The bullet proof car myth came from the TV show Burn Notice. They mentioned that it came from a recent TV show when they were setting it up but didn't mention which network. I happen to watch Burn Notice and remembered they did something like that recently.

Mythbusters has no writers.

Fair enough; just an initial impression I had because they didn't make a bigger deal about her being back, given they did mention something on-air when she got to the point when she had to take leave.

No misinformation meant.

They do for the "Warning: Science Content" sections. Jamie or Adam write them.

Being a civilian I can only ask. Is that proper technique for the butte of the gun to be that low on the shoulder? My girlfriend said it is not.
I'm a civilian but, you have to remember, that's a BIG gun and that pic is on shot AFTER the bullet has been fired. You have THAT much kick back and it doesn't matter how much you prepare, something is gonna end up looking out of place.

Also Robert Lee's narration which opens the show and bumps every commercial break ("Coming up..." and so on) is written by someone named Jessica Mallett, in case you thought he was making up those puns on the fly.

The most amazing thing was once she pulled the trigger, it blew the dust off rocks four feet away on both sides of the gun. It looked more like she was launching a small rocket than firing a gun.

They aren't called .50 cal for nothing. lol

While were on the subject... Here's something I can't figure out, if it's real or fake.

And if I really knew what a "caliber" was exactly, I would understand that!

It probably knocked her shoulder back and up due to recoil. But to answer your question, if that was her position before firing, your wife is correct.

The first few times firing a 50cal, your shoulder is bruised as hell the next day, until you get a feel for firing it.

Kudos to Kari for taking on that bad boy.

And as someone else noted, this was definitely shot post-baby, as the first thing I noticed were how large her breasts were (compared to before).

btw, civilians can fire a 50cal if they really wanted to. A decent firing range could hook ya up.

My understanding is that they are banned for all civilian use in many states including California. Because... come on... what in hell do you need a .50 caliber weapon for? They're only good for stopping vehicles and knocking down aircraft. Mythbusters can use these weapons only under the supervision of law enforcement agencies.

up-armored deer?

Loved seeing Kari back, hope they can keep coming up with myths to bust.

And watching her bust (it), specifically.

Best source I can find says .50 cal rifles are only illegal in California.

Firing a .50 cal is fun.
