I've started to see it referred to as 'Parks and Wreck' on other forums. Seems appropriate.

I don't want to say it "sucks". To be fair I only watched it once and it might have been an early one. There are folks I see in the cast that I've liked on other shows, so I should probably give it another try. I hate it when fans of the show creep into threads on other shows to tell you how "superior" it is. Kinda like when Scrubs fans used to post in Arrested Development threads. Just don't understand being so much a fan boy to tear down other shows to build the one you love up. And the fact is not everyone is going to like every TV show and I can understand not everyone can/will be patient with every show. I see enough with P&R that I'm willing to invest the time and I've enjoyed every ep I've seen.

well i didnt mean it like that but i think 30 rock isnt as funny as The Office to me..
and that'd just the way life is.

everyone's humor is different and no one is in the position to
declare one show funnier than another. it's all subjective folks.

i think some snl skits are hilarious and others post that they saw
no humor in it. that's cool.

we are all different.

I'm so glad that we finally have a thread dedicated to people keeping us updated on their DVR behavior. Enlightening.

BTW, hilarious show.

Some of the supporting cast are really funny in this show, everyone except Poehler. I especially like her boss, who thinks his job, and government as a whole shouldn't even exist, and the boyfriend with the broken legs- (who somehow with two broken legs was able to clean the whole house by himself).

Too much smirking at the camera, just like The Office. The Office isn't as terrible as this show, but it's getting there fast. Wouldn't care if they cancelled either. This year 30 Rock and Scrubs have been far and away the best comedies for me.

skyehill spending more time bitching about shows than anything else. Here's an idea: turn off the TV.

I have been. Parks and Recreation and The Office both got shut off early this week due to crappy writing and lackluster acting. I'm sorry my OPINION bothers your delicate sensibilities, though. Actually, I don't care that it does. Enjoy! Smirk smirk smirk

The Office started out great but is now going downhill. Parks started off terrible and is now going downhill.
I think P & R will surivive. It is doing OK in the ratings with 5 million+ viewers and leads in 18-34 demo for the timeslot. Its ratings aren't very far behind 30 Rock, which has a much stronger lead in (The Office). I think the show is moderately entertaining, I thought the dog poop fight was funny. But, what do I know, I also like "Earl". The funniest sitcom episode of the season for me was the 4/23 episode of Earl, "the bully" episode. I LOL numerous times during it. I DVR all 4 NBC shows on Thursday.

^ I agree with this!

30 rocks because of Tracy Jordan!

Couldn't disagree more

I think The Office is as funny as its ever been, I look forward to it each week. Also, count me in on the camp that likes Parks. It's starting to really grow on me, I've liked each episode better than the last. Her Indian co-worker is a trip.

A couple of moments that made me laugh:
- her boyfriend "running" down the street on crutches - naked
- her over-reaction to her own rule-breaking, sending e-mails to the whole city government confessing
- the fight in the park with the teenagers - what was that stuff anyway, dog poop?
- the house cleaning efforts. I thought he was a nice guy, but really just looking for a sure fire way to get some action

Like The Office, the show should get even better as the characters get more depth.

My wife watches this show and will probably watch it all the way to a bitter end. I end up seeing eps when she watches it, and I have to say, Aziz Ansari is the funniest part of the show. Combine that with Human Giant and his minor but hysterical role in Observe & Report, it's about time people learn his name and associate his face with his name:

Aziz Ansari

His episodes on Scrubs this year far outshine anything he's done on this lackluster show. I feel bad for Rashida Jones. Cute little actress that got stuck mugging and smirking on The Office is once again stuck doing the same tired schtick here.

+1.

Aziz is a great contributer as well. My 10 year old asked if this was by the same people that did the Office. The feel is just too similar.

I like it enough to DVR but will delete episodes if I don't get around to watching them.

Since Office and 30 Rock keep getting mentioned, my rank:

1) Office
2) 30 Rock
3) Parks

On a positive note, it is slightly funnier than Cavemen.

I thought Cavemen was hilarious & was sad to see it go. I also think P&E is getting better each week. But then I hate Lost & Battle Star Craptacula so I definitely have contrary tastes.

Yeah, dog owners will "bag" Fido's droppings and that's what the gangs had pilfered from the trash cans. It killed me how Amy's character got at flinging them so quickly.

On a sidenote, I've heard folks refer to the droppings as 30 Rocks.

Decent episode this week. Finding out she was on a date with the old guy was amusing. Her coworker Tom was funny as usual:
"Hey, I had a friend that went to that school, when did you graduate"?
"1968"
"Well, he was 2005, so I'm guessing you missed each other"
and, "This is my wife, isn't she hot? She's a surgeon so she makes a lot of money, too"

But I think the funniest scene of the series so far was the opening scene where they cut Andy's cast off and it was like under a sofa cushion - loose change, chip bags and an Ipod.

agreed!

best show yet of the ones i have seen. maybe their writers are starting to figure this out.

that scence with the collection of junk inside his cast had me laughing out loud. also loved the way he kept his cast on for 2 unnecessary weeks just so he can continue to be a bum. loved the song about the pit.

amy's comic acting skills are more than proficient. all she needs is some decent material.

As I said before, the funniest lines go to Aziz Ansari week in and week out. Either that, or it's his delivery of the lines.

Let's not forget another hysterical line that had my wife and I dying:

"He's 6, but he has Benjamin Button disease."

He was also fantastic on Flight of the Conchords the first season as the racist fruit stand owner. He's definitely under appreciated and hilarious.

When I saw the opening the cast bit in the network promo I was laughing hard but could not help thinking that the suits at corporate sure try their best to ruin the punch lines. Seems like a tough choice, show your best to get folks to watch but spoil punch lines by reveling too early.

I'm really glad I gave this show time to find its legs. I think the cast is excellent and I'm looking forward to another Season.

Aziz continues to have the best lines:

(With stethoscope) Oh my god, your boobs are dead!

This is my wife Wendy, she's my age.

Bump.

From what I saw, (TV was on in the background) The only part I thought was 'funny' was the censoring of the humping penguins.

"This Thread is more than 123 days old. It is very likely that it does not need any further discussion and thus bumping it serves no purpose."

Wow, cool forum! (Not being sarcastic, that's a good forum mod.)

What a shame this nightmare got a second season while "My Name Is Earl" is gone.

This show didn't even deserve a first season and if Amy Poehler wasn't who she is, this disaster would have never been greenlit.

Only time I ever laughed at this show was during an opening when kids were throwing bags of dog crap at each other. Then they started throwing the dog crap at Amy. I wanted to join them!
