'Southland' on TNT HD - Page 16

+1! Too often the pressure to fill 22 episodes with story means that a few of them are just fillers and others do little if anything to move the plot along. In a well written show of 10 to 13 episodes a season something is happening all the time. In addition to Southland, Justified is a good example of the salutary effect of a shorter season.

I'm pleased too. The 10 episode season doesn't bother me a bit. As noted in an earlier post, I think a shorter season often leads to episodes that are more entertaining overall than those of a 22 episode season.

Southland (season 5), Feb. 13

Looking forward to this shows return about as Much as I looked forward to Justified when it started weeks ago .

Wish the season was longer OR at least split the season into 2 @ 10 weeks winter/summer sessions like how they do on USA channel with their other shows

I'm looking forward to Season 5 of Southland too. It's already setup on my TiVo to record on the 13th. Can hardly wait!

My DirecTV subscription has never left the DVR had to change the channel only when they went to Cable !

I think if you watch your DVR'd show within 3 days, it "counts" more or less the same as live.

Agree. It's the best "cop show" on TV.

I'll watch "The Americans" from 10:20 to 11:00 then I'll watch "Southland from 11:00 to 11:40 sans commercials. The same thing I did last year when it was up against "Justified".

"The Americans " had huge numbers , it will get picked up IIRC ,I read it would somewhere .
It wasn't too bad either , I signed on for it .

I think you will love The Americans. Andy Greenwald had a piece on the Grantland site, which I recommend highly. Greenwald calls the show, "The best new show since Homeland" and I would be hard pressed to disagree.

Production values were high ,plot was sorta OK thru the 1st hour , But at the end when they brought out the " Ronald Reagen card " & we're at War now , I was hooked big time . the Wifey didn't like it "Too Complicated " she bitched & I Thought Cool ! I am gonna like it .

I've always been a sucker for spy thrillers. I guess that's why I love Le Carre so much. I agree with you that the way the writers used the historical fact that US defense spending was increased dramatically during the Reagan administration to show the increased paranoia of the Soviets was really slick. When I saw the way that the "husband and wife" Soviet spy team were sweating blood to protect their cover, I remembered Le Carre's famous line, "Being a spy is being yourself, only more so.

The Americans being a great new show, coupled with the return of the wonderful Southland, makes me a happy camper.

What you may watch or DVR doesn't mean squat if you're not a Nielsen family. Are you?

And did Regina Adams have some work done to her frontal region or are they really playing up the fact that her character just had a baby? Almost looks like she's got 2 hams in her top!

Yeah, I noticed that too. She's always been kinda lean in that dept in real life. Since they are pointing that out on the show (look you're leaking) I figure it's some kind of push up bra/falsies or something.

Best show on TV. Looking forward to how this season plays out. Plus they are pushing the envelope of "regular" cable, what with the blurred out private parts. I think I read somewhere that even the normal cable onlu channels don't have to follow the FCC indecency laws. They just (kindaO do as a best practice.

I don't think the kid was killed, but they said it didn't look good.

That was one hell of an episode though. So good.

The incident with Cooper didn't even seem that strange considering all the crazy ish we've been seeing around here recently. First Dorner then a high-jacking rampage yesterday, and down San Diego side two more cops were shot today...what's next?
