According to Panasonic's internal spec. sheet posted on AVS, as far as picture quality differences, they list Digital Cinema Color and 96Hz playback. The former, is described on Panasonic's site as being 120% of the HDTV color standard.

im kinda surprised that the v10 hasn't been spotted in the wild yet. The g10 was available for purchase the last week in Feb. So I hope the v10 isnt pushrd back.

It has to become available before it can be spotted in the wild, and it hasn't been released yet. And there's no reason to think it will be pushed back, the 50 incher is scheduled to be released "in May" and it's only May 1st. There's still 30 days left

I do have to wonder about the 120% color standard. I have to wonder whether a person would rather have more accurate colors or colors that really pop. It seems like there are people who fall into both categories. That line seems to separate the LCD and plasma crowd too. Isn't that difference why many AVS'ers preferred last year's 800u over the 850u?

I was kind of debating the benefit of DCC as well. I'll admit that I have zero experience with the 850U so I have yet to see how it actually looks, but I keep envisioning things like skin tones flying out of whack and displaying too much yellow and red. Pending that the 96Hz mode solves the flickering issue, (it should) it along with the improved aesthetics (gotta love the one sheet of glass design) would be the only reasons for me to upgrade from the G10, and I consider them minor. I'm satisfied with my purchase, but I'm still curious to see how the V10s perform.

There has been a 50" V-10 sighting...in the pre-order mode... in the UK! It's scheduled for 5/31/09 release date in the UK....go to the website Play.com and you can see it listed...

This year the DCC feature will be available along with the THX mode. Last year you had to choose between the 800U for THX, or the 850U for DCC. The V10 will have both. In case you didn't see these reviews, here is what the HD Guru thought of the DCC feature. Very sad to see Panasonic decided not to release the V10 in a 46" size, unlike last years top tier 850U...

Play.com always put dates at 31st for tv's. So it could arrive sooner.

I just ordered the 50" V10 from my local electronics store (in NE). Pretty nice price @ $1499. Supposed to be arriving in store 5/15 according to their records.

You live in Nebraska? That's a great price, indeed. Is this store a smaller independent store or part of a chain?

The berkshire discount at one of the stores owned by Warren in NE had the 50 g10 price at 1308.55 before 7% tax, I was going to grab it today, but if I can find the 50 V10 for 1500 I'm in. Please pm me the store name.

I hope that is correct, but sounds too good to be true for a newly released model.

Yeah my jaw dropped when the sales dude pulled it up on the screen. I was always skeptical of the Berkshire discount, but it seems to be worth it. I will post back after my purchase to let you know.

I will check if they have the V10 and at what price as well. Hopefully it is what DrMacchio has posted for.

Your deal is good, but I was really talking about the V-10...that's a very low price for a model that hasn't even appeared yet.

Yeah, it's the Berkshire (Warren Buffet's company) shareholders discount at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Today is the last day for those prices. I borrowed a pass from a friend who has a few shares...I cant afford it. It's a good deal now though...only $93,390.00 for one share...that's down about 30% from a bit ago.

The sales guy was like "uh huh...you got a killer deal." And, yes they had the G10's in for $1300, and the G15's arriving soon at $10 more @ $1310.

Did they tell you, or could you ask them, when the 54V10 will arrive in store?

I was going to ask but when he did a search for "Pana V10" the only inventory that popped up was the 50" so I assume they don't have a price yet for the 54". I did ask about the Z1 discount price just for fun, but they didn't have that in the system either so I couldn't get a price.

I purchased the 50" V10 at NFM today for 1600 (had to pay taxes), I was interested in 54" models as well but they did not have any in the computer, other than the z1 which even with the Bershire discount was 3000.

Before taxes:
50 g10: 1308.66
50 g15: 1316.67
50 v10: 1499.59

Owning Warren's tock pays off again!
