Panasonic 3000 or mitz 5500?

I have a mitibishi 1000u projector with 300 hours on it and just moved into a new house with a dedicated HT I think I just want a HD projector instead of buying a mout for this and mounting it. This one is 720p and looks grate buth the new HT is big and had a 119" screen so somthing a bit brighter might be nice as well and I will just ebay this.

In any case I called projector people and they pushed the Panasonic AE3000 but I didn't see many threads on it and I saw the Mitibishi 5500 is going for about 1000 less + a spair bulb. Is there a big difference between the two?
Is the Panasonic worth the extra coin I really wanted to stay under 2k but will spend what is necessory.

Any others I should look at?

You have a small theater and the MITs is quieter. The AE3000 isn't noisy by any means. You are obviously a Geek(compliment) so the AE 3000's features will keep you busy. Tough call. If money is the concern, get the Mits but leave these forums because you will eventually second guess your decision.

I don't think I need features I have a Anthum D2V2 comming in that has a dedicated video processor in it that should do most of what I want to do.

Head on over to the the over $3000 forum. There is a lot of discussion about the AE3000 there.

Well the ae3000 will have better contrast and has a good version of frame interpolation if that matters to you.

If you are considering the Panasonic AE3000, then you may also want to look at the Sanyo Z3000 projector. They are optically almost identical (same panels, 2:1 zoom, same amount of lens shift). It also has frame interpolation ("smooth motion") and comes with a 3 year warranty. (Panasonic warranty is 1 yr.) Sanyo currently has a $400 rebate on the Z3000 so it can be had for about $500 less that the AE3000. It has an owner thread on the $3k+ forum (although effective price is now about $2k)

you should also check out the mitsubishi HC6500...its a great projector especially for the price you can get it for at BB magnolia...the AE3000 is a good projector with tons of features as well...as guy above me mentioned the Z3000 is a good choice...also check out the new epsons...so much for making your decision easy eh! lol

The Mits is a great deal but the one notable downside of it is the limited placement flexibility. If the Mtis can work then also in that price range are the refurb Benq 5000's if they still have that deal going.

The first generation 1080 projectors were all rather dim compared to the 720 models. They were almost all LCD based. The low end projector market had become dominated by DLP machines.

The panny 3000 is second generation, the market leader and brighter. It seems the obvious choice. But for a ten foot screen you might want to consider the new Optoma model. The reviewer at Projectorreviews has a similar sized screen. You should check out his opinions.

Thanks for all the input as usual I am more confused but that is good it usally results in a good reward when all my research is done and it looks like there are alot of choices. Thanks for the advice on heading to the 3000+ forum I didn't even look there thinking it was really more than I wanted to spend.
