Watched the champions league final projecting a 103" video onto a white wall with no light control and the game was crystal clear. Couldn't be happier.
I do have a few questions, so if any one can point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated (I can't find the ***official x9 thread***)
For a 25-foot HDMI run, do I need 22awg or can I get by with 24awg?
What mount is the cheapest that would do a decent job?
What about DIY screens that are easy to make?
austin316, I haven't received my X9 yet but figured I'd take a stab at your questions although I'm no expert. Maybe some others will chime in with more/better info.
I went with 22awg for a 35ft run, but when researching saw some posters say they used 24awg 25fters without a problem. If it were me I'd probably go with the 22awg to be safe.
I'm currently using a ~$10 Monkeyman-inspired diy mount with my 4805. Search for monkeyman mount here at AVS and it should come up. I've ordered a Monoprice ceiling mount for the X9. From the reviews it seems alright and it is cheap. If I don't like it I'll go back to my diy mount.
If you haven't checked out the diy screen forum here, that would be a good place to start. If your wall is flat, you may want to paint that and frame it with duvetyne (sp?) tape or some other type of border. Blackout cloth makes another cheap diy screen. Its what I've been using with my 4805 and will use with my X9. Wilsonart laminates also sound good, although I don't know if the extra gain of the white one would be needed with such a bright pj.
